But mine are brass, Would they lead teflon bearings hold up just as will as brass ones ?

They'll do just fine. I run lead-teflon in all my boats except those with stingers, which are sized for brass only. I replace my lead-teflons about every six months with moderate use, and the cost is relatively minimal.
