WTB: 50++ mph, RTR

I know this is a broad topic, but I have about 2000' of smooth lake at my doorstep, and I am looking to go as fast as reasonably possible.

I have my local hobby shop claiming the Mystic is 50+ stock with lipos (seems like a stretch), but I am not impressed with the stock boat on youtube (hopefully that doesn't sound ignorant)...there is a slightly modded Miss Geico for sale locally, as well as a stock Venom P1 with lipos...might take a look at those, but wanted to see what everyone might have for sale.

Trying to stay in the $500 range, all said and done. Any leads would be appreciated.

Gotta love when the LHS gives false claims. high 30s is a reasonable average.

Just missed the sale of a twin cat of mine. Although it would have been a bit over your budget. May have one more for sale.. havent decided yet.

And for the future, we (west Fl model boat club) are beginnning plans to hopefully put a big swap meet together after the new year. keep an eye out for the thread. Hope to get more of an idea of whats going on in the next couple weeks. WFMBC.com

Tiqueman, I really appreciate you helping me out with my questions/threads. I think a cat is the best application for my lake...Miss Geico, Mystic, or even Motley Crew.

I've been into RC toys long enough to know that what I am about to say is ridiculous, but I want to buy a boat ONCE and be done with it. I know, that's what you all said, right?

Anyways, would you have any idea of the speed of a MG/Leopard 4082/Seaking 180/sharpened/balanced prop on lipos? Would that give me what I am looking for?

Yup! Youll buy a boat and be happy, then 2 months later another, then another etc etc

I ran a 4082 2200 on a Seaking 180, 4S2P in a 32" Pursuit and it ran low/ mid 50.

If your just looking for a straightline sport run boat, Id look for a Genesis/ daytona. Much easier to trim out and make FAST!!!! But will be out-cornered by any that you mention above. If I did get so into racing I never woulda sold my Genesis cat.

Heck, you can pick up a Genesis on Hobbyking for under 200 bux, take the motor and esc out and sell them for pretty cheap on here, put a leopard and a 180 in it and still be under 5 bills.

After seeing these, the MG for sale locally with the leopard 4082/SeaKing 180/ 2 sets of batteries seems like a decent, but not great deal.

That MG for 3 bills is pretty good. Id change the motor in the future but Itd certainly get you movin in the right direction. Seeing both run at the club, I vote MG

I can sell you my motley. It's a Hell of a boat. 55 all day. Best rtr hull in my opinion. Actually in a lot of peoples opinion.

Tiqueman, what do you think the MG would run with the Feigao 8xl motor?

I like the idea of the Genesis hull, but I'm afraid of putting a top notch boat together.

I ran an 9Xl in a 32" cat, much heavier than the MG and if I remember correctly as it was 2 years ago, I want to say it ran 45ish? Itd do a bit more in the MG as it runs a lot lighter than what I had it in. the 8Xl is a bit more KV, Id guess 50. I went 52 on the 9Xl on 5S... I do remember that! But cant remember if it was the 440 or 442 prop.

the genesis is a nice hull, but not quite top notch. LOL... It would be plug n play, just swapping things out. easy enough for the greenest newb.

Or get it and its upgraded accessories and come visit me, ill set you up.
