Ive got the 4082, 2200 motor in my P-mono, and Im thinking about changing it. I read posts from Deisel and others that are running the 4074, they are going just as fast, swinging larger props and running a lot cooler. Ive tried timing etc etc and cannot keep this motor cool and EVERY time Ive gone out, Im de-soldering 5.5 bullets off the motor to esc connection. I ordered some 6MM off ose last night. I have quite a few caslte 6 or 6.5?, but only the male side and ose is out of stock on them. I also got 3 pair of 8mm to try. My bullets are approaching 170F when temping them on the bench after a heat. Im thinking of trying different power and if it works doing something different w/ my 4082, or even going to a 4074. Maybe I just got a bad motor, I dunno, but I can tell you Im not happy w/ it.
Yep that's what keeps happening to me also 5.5's 6.5's or 8's probably won't matter. I soldered with high temp solder 425* and they still come apart yesterday. Now the motor is toast. After I re-soldered it again, it started smoking and was hot on the bench, and cogging badly. Well at least I got over 20 plus runs on the motor before I killed it.

Maybe it's meant more for hydros & less weight?

Seems to be just fine, which is why I dont understand how a 4082 would be struggling. And hes running the 2200. He sold me his 2000 a while back, I sold it in my Genesis. But even he forgot that.
