    WTB - Cheap ESC

    Hey guys.

I have a Cheap CBM (Compass Boat Models) Marlin Cruiser that I use to run for fun in my pond by my house and for the G/F and father to use and it is a great boat for only paying $70 new for it.

It does about 13mph only..which is just fine, as it isn't supposed to be a speed boat, but I wanted to get a bit more out of it so I put in a Traxxas Titan Marine motor (found in the villain EX)

Motor does just fine in it, but the ESC even after me adding water cooling just gets a little too warm, (no name esc with no specs..manufacture of boat cant even give me specs)

Anyways if anyone has a cheap BRUSHED ESC laying around they want to get rid of that could power my 550 motor on 6 or 7 cell NiMH's without getting too hot let me know what you got! Not looking to spend much on this boat, just want to make sure it is reliable for when we do use it.

    Thanks guys!

He is looking for a brushed controller. Not a brushless.

Looks like a great deal, but still a little more than I want to spend.. Looking more in the $10-$20 range since I don't need anything too big or fancy.

Will keep it in mind if I can't find anything though. Thanks!

Try to find a take off from a rio ep. e-bay has some in your price range.

Did you ever find anything? Was digging thru an old "boat stuff" box today and found a couple brushed speedos that might work for you. Google a Robart HQ 500 and the Tekin 410-M1 and see if they might work for you. You should see the results on line. Both cheap. $10 shipped for the Robart and $15 for the Tekin. They both have deans on the ends. I also found a Tekin 410-M5 but its a bit more. $20 shipped.

I am Very interested in one of these...however can't seem to find any info/specs when I googled them?

Do any of them have reverse?

Do you happen to know how many amps they will handle.. I will keep seeing if I can dig up some info maybe..

No reverse on any of them. The Tekin 410-M1 is rated 4 to 10 cells (nimh) and up to 120 amps. No motor turn limit. The Hobart is rated to 70 amps and 12 cells. Motor limit is unknown. Neither have BEC (you need a seperate rx pack). I should have included " Novak" in the description as Tekin was a licensed component of that company back in the early 90's.

                          Ok good to know.

Sounds like the amp rating on all of them will work.

Will a non reverse ESC work for me...since my boat currently has reverse? Or will it damage one of these ESC's if I hit reverse when driving the boat?

Will they work fine with my current transmitter and reciever?

                          Thanks for your help
