I am looking for a replacement motor/upgrade for my aeromarine mean machine.... I currently am running a NEU 1515 1.5y

I have (3) NEU 1515 1.5y's (1500kv) .... if anyone has any interest in trading for one of these?

If not let me know what you have.... and on the same note if anyone has any recommendations please let me know what you would reccommend to use in a mean machine.... this boat is super stable and I want some more speed!

an X440.... it does fly... high 50's still stable as heck..... want more... he, he, he.... I have wayyyy to many 1515 1.5y's maybe I need to build a twin motor MM:) but I don't want to hack up my current hull as its a real clean build and handles extremely well....

Maybe I've got the timing set wrong.... honestly I don't get it.... I've got a 1515 1.5y in my titan, and I've had one it my triton too....

I keep a super close eye on the temps of all my motors.... I ran a x442 on 6s with this neu and it ran hotter then I like.... 140 degrees.... and I could tell if I ran it harder the temp would go up from there.... maybe Im letting the Neu spin to free? I've tried a x440 now and the temps stay in the 110-120 range... I don't quite get it.... I am considering going to a nemesis 7xl I have laying around as I can run 4s with that and have a 50 plus mph mm...... Maybe i should try one of the other two 1515 1.5y's I have laying around in the MM as the one in the MM I bought NEW and haven't tried one of the other two I have.....?

I run the 1y's in my twin at 15 degrees. How deep is your strut?

I think I may be running the 1515 1.5y on too high a timing then..... I think I am running a 7 degrees.... maybe this is my issue.... I take it all you are thinking the 1515 is all the Mean Machine can Handle? well let me know if anyone has any other motor ideas.... i like change sometimes... just don't let my girl hear that!

I don't know how deep my strut is I'll take a pic and post it... Ive played with it a little here and there and it doesn't affect the heat of the motor that much, or does it? where do you rec. the strut to be at on a Mean Machine? any suggestions... thanks also for everyones help... especially cause this is a swap or sell thread:) can I run a 1521 in this mean machine?

A guy in our club ran one of spec power, UL-1 motor and esc and knocked her up close to 50! It's all in the setup.

Definately want the strut above the sponson bottoms. You wont get more spped out of the 1521 unless you prop up as well. IMO, with the strut set correctly you should be able to run a prop as big as 47-48mm with the 1515. I ran a 1y in a 31" mono on 4s2p with a x645 and no heat issues. That's a much hotter setup on a boat with more drag.

I've got mixed reviews of the neu 1515's timing... sailr says 0 degrees and rumdog says 15 degrees... so which do you all think?

I would say, If you have heat issues it is either the strut is deep, the prop is dull or it could be your timing. 7 degrees SHOULDN"T be too much though. In fact the y winds usually benefit from timing advance. What cell configuration and esc are you running? Where is the cg?

I don't know what to think.... I guess I am gonna replace the 1515 in the boat with another identical 1515 1.5y I have sitting around.... I have the strut at the same depth as when I had a 10xl in the boat and that motor had no heat issues and ran as hard as the 1515? go figure? So I may have a poor performing 1515 on my hands.... oh well what do you expect for $210..lol. I have only run very well balanced and sharpened props on the boat.... I don't mess around when it comes to props..... I've gone through about 10 (x442's, m445's, x440's) on the boat as we have alot of stuff in the water up here in Vermont:) partly my own fault as sometimes i run in places I shouldn't as they are closer to home!
