Just my opinion..BEC circuitry on an ESC is prone to many problems, has someone hijacked Peter's user name?. Peter, you are a star and your boat building skills are second to none.

if your telling me that you didnt adjust the timing on the used hydra you burnt up it may be why it burnt if it wasnt set to the motor you were using on it

some motors dont like boosting the timing and will not function properly

K smarty pants, so what if I did? You tryin to tell me I need to think before I hook it up, or you sayin I gotta plug the batteries in for it to work? You might be right, but I destroyed the evidence so you can't prove anything!

No Douggie its me , This is the first year I have dabbled with bec systems and am a greenhorn . I have a separate ubec system on the sniper and it works flawlessly . I guess we all gotto start somewhere , for the last 30 years I have always run a separate reciever pack

As far as timing the less poles the motor has the less timing it should get , a two pole Feigao works good with minimal timing and a ten pole plett likes a lot . best to contact the manufacturer and ask what they suggest with your current motor

Peter, very intersting as I am old school on BEC technology. So with high volage ESC you would go with BEC connected.

I bought a 42.0 volt ubec from HKHobbies for the Sniper and so far so good , I am just tired of charging a separate reciever pack and want to try something different . I will definaitly have a better idea weather I like it or not by the end of summer.....................

You are no greenhorn....are you suggesting that THIS ESC can run on the BEC circuitry and here is the caveat on 22V. I am just posing a question my Canadian friend and admirer

Douggie I tried it on 6 , 5 , and 3 cells on a bench test without a problem , they do claim it will work up to 6 cells with the onboard bec

By daam I'm gonna test this thing on 6S2P in my DF33 and my Neu 1521/1.5D (I know, I love writing that) with a variety of props and my temp gauge handy. I will start a post once I get mine (hopefully in a few days). I wish my Eagle Tree was working then I could even post some DATA, oooooooooooooohhhhh another of my favorite words.

Speaking of timing. I wish someone could publish a list of the timing settings for all the motors out there we're using! A NEU motor might have different timing than a Feigao for example but how would we know? Am I missing something? I know in the aircraft motor outrunner world, the timing settings are different from brand to brand of motors. Get the wrong timing and you won't get the potential or efficiency out of the motor and you could also burn it up!
