I got 2nd place with my electric Rio last year at the Canadian Nats in the Open mono class. Even after snapping a propshaft in one of the heats.

Steve, if you mod one the propshaft needs to be replaced, the China one is not up to the tourqe of FE. I' on my third one right now. I need to find a decent replacement as so far, 2 props, drivedogs, propnuts and shafts are at the bottom of the ponds.

Any one out there make a decent replacement that would fit the stock strut??

Yes, I am sure it is a wonderful boat.

This thread might have some useful information:

BTW - if anyone wants one this is the place to get it. The boat has been discontinued by Hobbico/Aquacraft. These may be among some of the last ones around.

1/4 inch. It uses standard gas props.

CMDi do a good 1/4" shaft, nicely welded and good quality cable.

Good luck getting a hold of them lately. I've called several times each day for the last week and never gotten anything except a busy signal. Plus I have sent emails that have gone unanswered.

I suspect that the Rio has its own special shaft based on the drive set up.

In any case, Steven carries the Hughey flexle, which are also very high quality.
