ABC props are listed as (diameter)(pitch ratio) both in inches. So, a 1714 prop is 1.7" in diameter, with a 1.4 pitch ratio. The 1515 and 1516 are smaller in terms of diameter, but have more aggressive pitch. If a prop is too small for the hull its paired with, it won't push it and will just cavitate.Vac-U-Tug Jr (13mph)Comment

A 1516 is 38mm diameter with a 1.6 pitch ratio 38 X 1.6 = 60.8 mm pitch
A 1714 is 43mm diameter. 1.4 pitch ratio 43 X 1.4 = 60.2 mm pitch
hypothetically the same speed per rpm but the 43mm has much more blade area and will slip less. Your 1714 just pulling too much power could be cut several ways to increase slip or efficiency and make it act like a 1712 (less pitch) I would carefully take 1/2 - 1mm off the leading edged making a less diameter prop without disturbing the blade profile much. Your COB or center of blade pitch would be retained.
