Hi everyone. This is a full size P-Sport hydro that I built and never ran. It was going to be my personal race boat for the 2021 season, but then real-life happened. Includes the hull, hardware, turn-fin, motor mount, and flexshaft. You will need motor, esc, batts, and servo.
West Systems used exclusively with fiberglass cloth re-enforced joints throughout. It?s an extremely time consuming process, but it makes for a very solid/stiff hull. Rudder and strut are from speedmaster, and the turn fin and bracket are second to none. The steering is set-up for straight pull, extremely tight with virtually no slop (3mm solid SS shaft with threaded ball cups at each end). The flex shaft spins smooth, is precisely aligned, and has very low friction. I run thin oil and use lead Teflon bushings in the strut with very limited slop.
It was finished with 2-part Klasskote epoxy paint. 2 coats of primer, sanded, 2 coats of color. Since it was my personal boat, I went the extra mile and sanded the deck bottom and sides with 800, 1000, 1500, and then polished with 3M finesse-it. It?s as smooth as silk. You will never have to worry about paint flaking or pulling off with tape or any of that nonsense.
The center opening is narrow to make use of as much air-venting underneath as possible for stability at higher speeds. This makes packaging a bit tough, so you may need to get creative with your ESC placement (hang underneath decking??). Opening is 142mm. 148mm under the 1/8 overhang on each side for the hatch.
I did notice some minor things that I thought I should point out. The UL-1 nose cone has a fiberglass strip on each side at the seam. There is also a tiny nick on the deck at the separator between the front and rear hatch. Other than that, it is mint.
The Black Pearl currently holds records in both NAMBA and IMPBA. There are plenty of videos out there, but this is one is the most recent?.
It might seem like a high asking price, but by the time you add up the cost of the boat, hardware, materials, and paint, it?s actually quite reasonable. You will be hard pressed to find a better built boat. Months and Months of labor. This boat will win races.
