I'm going back gas racing next year, just have to blow the dust off those. I'm new to FE, always steered clear of electronic stuff until now. I'll get my mess right and purge all the extras when I'm done.
It's really quite simple. When it runs out of gas, add more and go! Plus I like working on the engines and tuning.
FE has its advantages too though. Getting batteries charged at home allows you to just plug and run when you get to the water, easier to pack up and leave too.
I do miss the engine work... but not the smell and the mess in the water! Our Unlimited left less oil in the water than my nitro boat did! All that stuff, battery starters and belts, glow plug attachments.. I remember it all well! The smell of the boat after running it a bit. But I'm not missing those nitro bills!
I would like to build a turbine boat model some year.
See, I used to be a mechanic when younger. I went into Electrical Engineering and kinda lost interest in being a gear head. So I'm enjoying overcoming some of the problems in FE right now. 3KW in 36"!
The hurricane is running 60 with a 29 mod motor, 7016/3. Conquest is at 60 also with a stock 26, 2716. Speeds come down a little in race trim. My dad is twisting my arm to come out this year and run, between him and talking about it up here, I might not be able to wait until next year. Twin 16 month old girls and a 4 month old baby is keeping me at home on the weekends right now.
