MOVED TO eBay
This is the revised version 2 hull and it has been modified to fix a lot of the issues with the stock design. Most upgraded parts are only a few months old, installed this winter.
An aluminum TFL offset rudder with dual cooling ports was installed in place of the original, smaller rudder. The original mounting holes were filled with JB Weld epoxy and new, larger stainless hardware was used. Dual aluminum cooling hose bulkhead fittings were installed on the transom instead of the holes on the stock boat. The ESC and motor are each fed their own supply of water through larger diameter tubing, then out the side of the boat through a blue anodized dual water outlet.
All of the stock electronics were upgraded. A new Traxxas 2075 waterproof digital servo was installed. It has more torque than the original servo. A new Flycolor 150A waterproof ESC was installed with 10gauge power wires and EC5 battery connectors. You will need to install your own 2ch receiver and brushless motor w/ cooling jacket. I was using a 4082 1650kv motor, which is a popular size for this boat. That motor is NOT included.
The small stock flexcable was replaced with an upgraded Offshere Electrics 3/16" flexcable and bullet nut along with a two piece 3/16" to 5mm aluminum motor collet. The stock strut was replaced with an Offshore Electrics upgraded CNC strut with oversized lead Teflon bearings, grease port, and more adjustability. The stock stuffing tube was replaced with an oversized K&S brass tube and new Teflon liner that runs all the way through to the strut. The stock tube and liner stopped at the rear of the hull leaving the strut and flexcable exposed to the water at the rear of the boat. The longer liner keeps more water out of the boat and prevents the grease used to lubricate the flexcable from being washed away. It also keeps the back of the hull much cleaner after each run. The original hole in the transom was filled with JB Weld epoxy and redrilled properly 5/16" from the bottom of the hull, about 4mm higher than stock. This puts more of the rear of the hull in the water and reduces the chine walk the stock boat is plagued with at higher speeds.
A second set of trim tabs were installed to help with stability and ride adjustment at higher speeds. The stock boat comes with a single set that are installed too far from the strut to make any real adjustment possible. The stock turn fins were sharpened along the leading and bottom edges to reduce drag. The rudder was also sharpened as well as profiled on the bottom to reduce lift.
The hatch was modified with an aluminum push and turn style lock instead of the cheap stock body pin on a rubber band. This makes the hatch more secure, doesn't flop around, and just looks better. A rubber seal was installed around the hatch opening to help keep water out while running. The rear hatch tabs that overhang the hull were filled in with epoxy to keep water out, a common issue on the stock boat. A black aluminum splash guard was also installed on the transom. These are intended to reduce the amount of water that gets into the boat when run in reverse. I don't use reverse on my boats, fixed the water issue by filling the holes and installed a hatch seal. It's really just for looks.
Known issues: The is a slight dent on the tip of the bow, barely noticeable, not structural at all. There is a small crack in the rear right corner of the deck which was repaired properly with epoxy from the inside. I've included close-up photos of both. It could easy be concealed with a decal. All stickers have been removed, but a complete sheet of stock Traxxas decals is included. The hull has no leaks. There are some light scratches on the right side of the hatch and on the left side a few inches behind the water outlet.
There are over $230 in just new upgraded parts installed in this boat, most only a few months old. Buying a stock boat with plans to run 6S power and modifying it yourself is a waste of money compared to the deal here. Included with the boat is an original stand, original box, packing, manual, decals, and spare electronics tray. You will need a 2ch transmitter, receiver, batteries, and a brushless motor w/ water jacket to complete the boat. The motor and water jacket pictured were installed for testing and are NOT included.
$280 shipped to the continental US. For sale on other forums as well.
