    KBB-built SAW 33" MHZ mystic

    SOLD OFF FORUM - THANKS GUYS This is a single motor build I did to run in IMPBA's p-cat class. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to run it at the event. I did very little testing with it and there is definitely room for improvement, but on the second run I GPSed 82mph (the current IMPBA record is 71mph). If I were to run this boat a couple more times I would expect to see 90mph on 4s with it, but I would really rather focus on a couple other boats. I have come to the realization that while I may have the boats to run all 5 cat classes, it's quite unlikely that I will have the time. In all honesty I don't really like these single motor cats and would prefer to stick with the twin powered versions.

    Some highlights:

    * 33" MHZ mystic hull
    * Custom machined strut and rudder assemblies
    * Custom machined billet servo mount
    * Custom machined and texture coated motor mount system
    * Lehner 1950LK 6-wire motor
    * MGM-Compro 280A 2-6s ESC
    * KBB solid carbon fiber lipo mounts
    * through-hull water cooling
    * All stainless steel hatch hold down system
    * Black texture coated drive tube w/German Teflon lining
    * Custom woven carbon fiber/aluminum reflective fabric reinforcement

    This boat is currently set up to be a SAW boat, but features a Lehner 6-wire motor. With this motor, the wire configuration could be changed to allow use of 3s, 4s, 5s, or 6s for sport running. Prop not included but I will be happy to work with the buyer in choosing an appropriate prop for their setup depending on goals.

    $1450 shipped to lower 48. I will split shipping with international buyers.

    Keith, you might want to mention the exact wind and kv for the 1950.

      Thanks Tyler. I didn't list the wind/kv because I'm not sure how I feel about posting the setup on a public forum. Make no mistake, I will gladly tell the buyer exactly what they're buying before they do so and wouldn't expect anyone to buy it without that info. However, posting it for any onlooker to see may be a bit reckless. There are a lot of people on this forum that might assume the setup is good for their boat without knowing the difference between a SAW setup and a setup that is intended to "fun run". The motor in this boat could be run on 3s with an appropriate prop in delta config., or 4,5, or 6s with appropriate prop in wye config. and I will happily help the buyer put together a combo that is right for them. It should only be run on 4s in delta as a SAW boat. Based on that info, people like you likely know what motor/wind this is. For the people that don't, I would rather talk to them about the risks involved before I give them the keys to a SAW setup.

          I'll change the motor wiring and include a prop for the listed price of $1450. The Mystic is a fairly narrow cat with a dihedral sponson design, making it very fast and stable in a straight line but more twitchy in the corners than a wider cat. I don't do heat racing so I'm not sure what people run for p-cat but I'll give you whatever info I can. Your motor kv will be a little over 1800 loaded, making this comparable rpm to a 4 pole motor of 1900-2000kv.

            Hey Keith. How realistic is it to run this as a sport boat? I'll never race but have been looking for a Cat in this size range and 4s2p would be ideal for me. Mid to high 70's is more than enough for me but I will need to turn eventually.

              Oh it's definitely capable of being run as a sport boat, but high 70s is asking a lot from a 4s single motor boat. Keep in mind that the current impba 4s cat SAW record is only 71mph. If you wanted to run high 70s you absolutely could, but current draw would be too high to consider it a sport setup.

              The twin cat I have for sale would be a much better fit for what you want to do. You could run those types of speeds and faster on 6s, or I have another Explorer twin that would run 70s on 4s.

                I must have misunderstood your comment "If I were to run this boat a couple more times I would expect to see 90mph on 4s". My comment was that I didn't need to see 80's or 90's. I'm still learning.

                I saw your Explorer that's for sale, but not another twin.

                  I stand by my statement. If I were to run this at another event, 90 mph would be my goal, and I'm usually pretty good about hitting my goals. That would be an all-out SAW setup though, and even high 70s/low 80s would still be SAW territory.
                  70-ish might be doable for an aggressive sport setup, but it would still definitely be on the aggressive side.

                  I have two Explorer twin cats and would sell either one. The one that's listed here could run 70s/80s relatively reliably on 5-6s with the motors that are in it. The other cat has a bit higher kv and easily runs 70s on 4s.

                    I wasn't questioning the statement, just plain misunderstood it...........SAW vs sport.

                    Can you send me, or post, some details on the Explorer set-up for 4s?

                      I have been directed by a moderator to ask that any questions that could be considered "set up questions" be directed to me via PM or my email [email protected]

                      Rick I will post a separate thread on the other explorer as soon as I get the chance, either tonight or tomorrow. Thanks.
