LOSI XCELORIN 1/8th Scale 680-series, BL 4-Pole 12-slot Motors, 2100KV and 2400KV

Two LOSI XCELORIN 680-series sized (same as a Neu 15-series) BL 4-Pole 12-slot motors.

These things are BEASTS! I've run these several times as P-class motors, including at the 2012 Nats. They are truely very powerful motors and hold up VERY well. Never even gotten one warm.

They use the same water jacket as a Neu, but you'll need to get the 1509 sized jacket to get the o-rings to clear the endbell screws.

8mm bearings with 5mm output shaft. I'm serious when I tell you that these are REALLY FAST motors for your P-Power system. OR, in your 1/8th scale buggy.

Jeff, for racing, either should work well. I've run both in my P-Sport and P-mono setups, as well as on my Stiletto and LeeCraft OPC boats. I think one of them may have given me the 2-Lap OPC record at one point.

These really do run very strong. Internally, they appear to be very similar to a Neu... 4-Pole, 12-slot, etc... They even use the 1509-sized water jackets (would be 1515 length, but the endbell screws interfere with the o-rings)

I ran mine with a Barracuda 125... Also a Hydra 240. The Seaking 120 would work. I'd prefer more headroom for racing. For sport running, as long as you keep reasonable loads on things, 120A should be fine.

Certainly. I would update the ESC to something a little bigger, but yes. I ran it in my IM31 for P-Mono here locally a few times. The stock 42x55 prop, or a 440/3, will give you some surprising speeds.

So after all the testing you did with these motors,
How did they pan out in their efficiency and temps ?

I was thinking of using one in a Pursuit hull but not sure about the whole jacket thing,
And what needs to be done for the wires to it.

I don't have any hard numbers here at my finger tips, but here is what I know...

I treated both of these motors as if they were a 1515 1Y, and I never had any temperature, or speed/power issues. The 2400KV version was used in my P-Sport hydro (PT Stealth) at the 2012 Nats, using a 440/3 prop, and I was competitive. I ran the 2100KV version in my P-Mono IM31, for both Mono and Offshore, and was as fast as this hull could handle in race conditions. Again, no temp issues. At one time, the 2400KV version of this was also used on my P-OPC boat for a 2-Lap TT... Overpowered the setup on the boat and I was never able to complete the 2-laps. Was nicely FAST. I ran my IM31 through the SAW traps with the 2100KV version, using I believe a 447/3, and registered a 67mph speed just before it flew off the water.

As I've said before, these motors have plenty of power, and are nicely efficient. The 1512 Neu water jacket fits right on. For wires, I just made up some short 10-awg leads with 5.5's on them and soldered them on.

P-Mono... 4S...

You can sort of predict the top speed if you know your RPM and prop pitch....

4S = 16.8V... figure 15V under load on a fresh charge in the first 30-seconds or so

15 * 2100 = 31,500RPM
31,500 * 2.56" (pitch of an X447/3) / 1057 (formula constant) = 77mph...

Factor in prop slip of say 25% , so 77mph * 0.75 = 57mph...

However, the actual pitch of my prop is considerably more than the advertised 2.56"... I think it's closer to 3.0...

So:

31,500 * 3.0/1057 * .75 = 67.05 mph...

Remember... that was for a SAW pass... about a 5-6 second burst... Probably would want a different prop for heat racing or playing...

That said.. there should be more speed in there.... A good P-Ltd Mono with a 2030KV AQ motor is capable of 65+mph in SAW trim. Of course, to do that, you are pushing THAT motor well beyond it's design limits...
