Built to sell.
This is for the person that really liked the DF23 but, was not able to get one or maybe was not enough power:value ratio for you when they were being sold.
This was built up from red FG hull. I have owned & since sold the DF23 stars & Stripes rtr I had. I modified that boat with same motor mount, custom lowered to fit right down low in there and still be able to handle a 36mm motor with cooler (most) or 36mm outrunner. The difference between the RTR painted hulls and this is the FG version here is much more rigid than painted hull. Maybe a tad heavier but, with the Tacon 2860-2550Kv motor, there are no issues with the ability to go from mild to wild.
I have only water tested the boat for 8 minutes and can say, I'm building another some day soon.
I started out with a single 2S 4500-25-50C Nano and HK 3 blade 32mm cnc prop. Nice speed for 2S and similar performance to the stock RTR's on 3S and the little outrunner.
That was for 1.5 minutes.
Then 3S single pack centered like the 2S pack before. Now thats nice speed! Same prop.
That was for 1.5 min.
Then I took 2 x 2S 4500's as above in series for 4S1P and wow, this sucker is a missle!
I first tried the 32mm cnc hk prop, then a x437-3blade D/T'd, then tried the HK 435 x3blade cnc prop and that was kinda my favorite.
That was a total of 5 minutes with those 3 props on 4S. Packs came back maybe 100F, esc 100F, motor 130F that I always douse down with many syringes of ice water after (via the cooling system silly!
).
All 4 runs were back to back no break except to untape, change cells or just change props. This on a 90F day & warm water too.
Just sayin' you can't do that with the DF23 original stock rtr boats but, this combo of Tacon, Water cooled & conformal coated Skywing 100amp esc, hardware sourced from DF & elsewhere, (polished up to bling level) has no problems hauling the mail and staying on the water.
The previous Df23 I had was video'd with same motor, T120esc & Y537x 3 blade prop at 50 mph or so and it stays put on the water.
The videos of my test runs are not that great because I didn't even setup the CG or do any hardware tweaking, just carammed cells in and ran it. In fact one pack was sliding around everwhere it could because I forgot the velcro.
The drive line is .130 cable that runs in 3/16" lead teflon (octura) bushings and has stepdown to 1/8". So you can run a mutitude of props. Drive cable is Octura stub with Hydromarine .130 cable held in with proper Loctite bearing retainer. The H&M cable is twice as stiff as USA or China stuff and is much smoother. It acts more like wire drive.
Runs almost completely dry after first 3 min, I relubed for 4S and just a couple drops of water in there. I will put silicone tubing on the drive shaft or heat shrink on there so it should be totally dry then.
I am asking no more for this than what DF wants for their discontinued df23 rtr, $220+ shipping TBD tomorrow. In fact I think thats cheaper than DF's price.
This will not come with Rx seen in pics but will come with a slightly used M435/3blade S&B prop to get you to the wild as fast as you can handle it.
Below are vids of old df23 that I sold & new vids, hopefully will upload... and many pics to drool over.
After i post, I am crashing out. Tired...
Please post dibs here, not PM's thats too hard to deal with.
This is a darn fine deal, all epoxy is MAS slow set, the motor mount has some black CF mixed in. Servo mount is Home Made and sevo is bolted in with either 2-56 nut & bolt or 2mm??? I forget. Servo is HK, nothing special. Linkage, smooth & free.
Cooling lines matching red, bling, bling!!
Older rtr 50mph setup with Tacon>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHq9h78pFEE
Still loading my vids on Utube... they will be ready tomorrow, rememer I did not set CG in these runs.
More pics after this post, then bed.
