    1/8" driveshaft material

I found a source for S309 steel welding rods which are used for 1/10 scale shovelnose hydros. They are 1/8" diameter and come in 36" lengths. 1.5 inches on either end are not usable due to the spec stamps.

I had to buy a pound of then as a min order, so I have some extras. $3 per rod plus shipping.

If you want a bulk order I can get a bunch more and can drop the price to $2.50 per rod plus shipping for 8 or more.

    Here's a video:

They are pretty true-- I rolled them on my glass table and only got a slight warble... and that is with uncut 36" lenghts...
I could make a video and post it later this weekend.

I'd tape the rods to a 1/4 x 1/4 strip of wood, then make a cardboard triangle around it (poor mans tube...). Cutting them in half to 2 x 18" would make it easier.

Chief I might need some of these but if I grab them and even pay extra can you ship in a PVC pipe like a 1/2 in to 3/4 just to keep them as true as possible.... Who ever else buys them I suggest u do the same thing...

Good idea-- I can just add that to the shipping costs.

I bet it will probably be almost the same price as the weight of woode dowel and cardboard equals the PVC or close to it I would check the weights first. It might be a dollar or two more, but I have no problem paying it. Thanks for your time and guys by the way chief is a great person to deal with ( know this from a past purchase ).
