FS: one of a kind stepped offshore racer: Hopf Cyklon “fastest stepped vee in the world”
Need to fund other projects so I am forced to sell. Build thread : http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ghlight=Cyklon
I bought hull bare on OSE, super light fiberglass with CF mat in steps and extremely thin gel coat. I added thick fiberglass to steps and 4lb urethane foam to bow – you can stick a brick wall with it. Hatch was reinforced with heavy glass after being filled with same foam. Hull measures 34” including overhang, 31” wet by about 8” wide.
Graphics were hand drawn by me – I spent a couple days finding the camera angles and then in my graphics program to digitize them. They are printed on waterproof from my inkjet printer – I can provide files if you want to print more. I had ambitions of filling the small imperfections in the gel coat and painting for that “perfect” finish, but evidently the appearance was good enough that I haven’t done it yet.
Twin Suppo 3126 outrunners 1600KV with Proboat 45amp ESC with built in BEC on 4S. System draws 30amp average with 40-50 amp spikes on 4S. Motor mount custom made CF by Roadrashracing, water cooled for outrunner motors. .078” wire drives are very efficient plus giving it a very scale twin diesel sound as she is out pounding waves. Twin SV27 stingers allow angle and slight up-down adjustments. 42mm CF props are on there now, will include pair of 45mm for speed. I had a pair of b/s 38mm custom props and this baby hit 50mph on 4S per motor. A pair of b/s 442s would do her real good.
High torque servo drives push-pull steering system with MHZ rudder. Dual water intakes are in the step and they provide plenty of cooling; motors/escs have remained below 110F even in 100F ambient running temps. Hull runs great in chop up to 1ft (see video) as well as smooth water – on glass she has a tendency to chine walk a bit, but some playing with props and strut angles should take care of that. She lumbers around the corners just like the scale boys do, but is surprisingly stable for her length/width ratio and large step.
Everything except boat stand and rx included. Sold as ARTR package only.
Requires: RX, pair of 4S packs (or higher).
Value breakdown:
Hull: $120
Motor mount: $100
Hardware (turn fins, struts, MHZ rudder): $120
Motors: $120
ESCs: $90
Wire drives, couplers: $50
Servo: $30
Total worth: $630
Asking price: $495 shipped with insurance Cont US – international pays difference
If there is interest, I can swap the Proboat ESCs for 70amp ESCs for $20 more.
Here are photos. I have interior shots that will be uploaded this evening (computer at work is not allowing me to upload from my phone)
