Here is what I did with mine. I just cut the front of it off and use the bsack end to add support to the rrear of for the heavier motors as JPriami mentioned. Hope the photos help give you the idea of an easy way to install it.
I bought this water cooled adjustable motor mount new and never used it.
$15

Water cooled and adjustable motor mount for Leopard 4074 & 4082 brushless Motor.
Additional rear motor clamp helps carry the weight of the heavier 4074 & 4082 motors. Angle is adjustable to allow straight alignment with propeller cable.
The anodized aluminum mounting plate with extended fiberglass mounting stands to distribute the weight of the motor over a larger area. The mounting plates that have holes drilled in the bottom to allow epoxy to flow into them to make a superior bond to the hull. This mount can fit a flat mounting area like a rigger or hydro, or a deep vee.
Applications:
Leopard 4074, 4082 Brushless 40mm Motor.Comment

Say Ecoovert, that is just brilliant!! I have almost the exact same setup as you do, always wondered how I can add support to the rear of the motor. I have a 4082, which motor do you have? My only concern is that I think I have a long water cooling jacket. Mine is gold like yours from FD, the motor shaft hasn't been shortened and so the stock motor mount is pushed all the way to the front to make room for the collet. Motor is hanging out, never liked the situation. Thanks for the inspiration!Too many boats, not enough time...

tlandauer, Both the Nem. Gold and Leopard are 4082 motors in both of my Mg-29 boats. I broke down and picked up an extra hull and realized that I had a spare 180 amp esc. so I ordered an extra motor to build a spare boat. Knowing some of my friends, I may need it.
As to the water cooling jacket length I ordered the 50mm jacket in order to allow the rear motor mount to fit on the motor. My temps have never been high at all so I would probably spend the $16.95 or so and order a shorter water cooling jacket. I did shorten the shaft on both of my motors as to be able to allow the motor to set back and keep from having to over extend the prop shaft. Say, some guys on other threads seem to have trouble believing the speeds I am calculating. I managed to go at least 600' and probably closer to 620' in 5 seconds flat from a dead stop with this setup. I don't have a gps. Is there any chance you can post a vid of yours with a gpsed speed? My motors are both 2200kv motors running on 6s using an x645 prop. That combo has never givin me a problem in the past or now. On paper that combo got me between 81.7 and 84.4mph. With Christmas coming up I probably won't be getting a gps any time soon That's why I'm asking if you might be able to gps yours.
P.S. If you decide to shorten your motor shaft be sure to tape the holes on the motor shut before filing. You don't want to get metal filings in the motor.Last edited by ecoovert; 11-23-2011, 10:01 PM.Comment
