I recently shipped 2 boats all meaurement the same except 1 box was 1 inch bigger and 1 lb heavier smaller box 12$ bigger 31$
At usps they did mention a length of 48 or under and less than 106 in around, or the price will go up dramatically. So with that in mind there out to get us if its light weight they will charge us for demensions. If its heavy but small they chragfe by weight. When that dont work they mix it up... Check into specific measurements and weights, there are cut off where the price goes up quick..

I have quit using ups also. I set up a usps account and have had them picking up parcels @ the house. I have been saving about 20% since the switch. The usps web site is also less complicated.

I have tried them all. I find Fedex to be the cheapest and most reliable. Print labels online and drop off at end of counter. No need to stand in line if you print your own labels.
          Many issues!!!
