FYI; Used Motors With Shortened Leads

Just an FYI,,be very carefull when buying motors that the previous owner has substantially shortened the leads.

I picked up a motor recently that had very short wires on it with 6mm bullets for connectors. I had to replace them with 5.5mm as thats what I use. Just touching them with my soldering iron and they basically fell off as the solder had not adhered to the wires due to the coating on the wires. It took about 2 hours of sanding, grinding and varsol to get the coating off the wires to the point where hopefully good solder joint was made...only time will tell as visually they still appear less than great.

    Just a heads up folks.

Not sure if this is the right area for this topic, but that doesn't sound right. If the motor wires are "ok to shorten" as castle states for most of theres then the length doesn't matter, i know certain types of motors mostly outrunners you CANNOT shorten the wires. Usually if there hard wires that dont bend easily there not able to be shortened, where as if there soft and can bend easily they are ok to shorten. I shorten all my castle motor wires, i try to keep all the wires in my setups as short as possible now.

castle wires can be shortened because the windings terminate internally, then castle solders plain silicone wire to the terminals inside. Most other motors terminate at the end of the wires sticking out of the motor.

Must have been one hell of a pain in the ass to get the varnish off the wiring. If you have access to a wire wheel on a pedestal grinder it does a great job getting the varnish off.

I just searched your last 200 posts. Most of which was altered or deleted by you. The only mod deleted stuff was replies with "smilie" faces or replies with very off topic in a forsale thread. If there is something else going on that I don't know about please let me know by pm.
