    Different small hatches for sale

OK, somebody asked about one of the hatches I made, so I figured I would post a sales add showing what I have. The only fiberglass ones I have are the small bubble style one and the hydro style one, the rest are vacuum formed out of .040 HIPS.

Pricing, asking $5 for the vacuum formed ones and $10 for a fiberglass one. I can do gelcoat or epoxy layup. I can also do a carbon fiber layup, not sure on price, but maybe $15? Haven't done one like that yet.

shipping will probably be abut $5 to $8 depending on details. PP, check, cash, beer, or diapers (clean and new, type must be approved by pregnant wife!) accepted. trades: ??? awfully cheap to be looking at trades, but who knows. Look at my builds and see what I am into. (1/16 hydros, small offshore mono stuff, 1/8" hardware)

    Brian

Attached photos show the small hydro glass epoxy hatch and the glass bubble style next to a vacuum formed crackerbox hatch. this hydro hatch is epoxy, has some carbon mat in it and seems pretty decent for $10. Basstronics asked about one, so giving him first dibs if he wants this one.

    more hatches

Two more. This bubble hatch is from my mini BEFU mystic build. Might have seen this one on hydroGerry or Chuds build. You would also see it on one by Tiqueman if he ever gets going on it!!!! ha ha

The other is off of my 1/16 hydro shovel nose. Set up for a scale motor (no parts) or for the full cowl. also attached is a photo of it on my 1/16 hydro.

    Thank you, brian

I think that gray one will fit. I gotta dig the rigger out of the closet and measure it.

Do you have measurements on it? Estimate on the bubble?

The bubble on my rigger is rather small. I would just like a larger one.

How heavy of abs do you use for the 1/16th?

          Another one

Jim, everything I have done so far has been in .040 or .060 HIPS. haven't played with ABS yet. I think these shovel nose ones are .040

Bass, the bubble in this one is 5/8" deep for at least 1 1/2". That does NOT include the little "scoop" bump on top.

          Another hatch:
This is another one I forgot about. I want to make a new plug for it and shorten it by about 2" so it will fit my mini DF hydro. Make it look like an older style hydro. Early pickle fork but with the rear driver seat still. If I recall, some of the old ones were modified like that.

              Brian,

What is the gray one made of?

Looks like its 12" Lg and 4" wide as shown?

Could that be made in CF? :D of FG with a CF cover? That would be SWEET.

Yes, it is 12" x 4". This is one I originally laid up for Diego, and it was going really well in epoxy and glass. So i tried to add some carbon mat to it and I couldn't get it to lay flat! The hatch is smooth on the outside, but it has some airbubbles inbetween the carbon and glass. with the glass being pretty clear, it looked bad from the top side. It is strong and weighs 1.7 oz.

I did make a nice carbon one for Diego, not sure if he has a picture of it or not, but it turned out pretty decent.

So the grey is just a spray primer I put on it so I didn't have to look at it anymore, but there really isn't anythign wrong with it other than I know what it looked like before painting. make sense?

                Here is pic of underside.

Ok let me dig that rigger out this weekend and get back with you on that gray one. As long as it fits I will take it. I need to repaint the entire boat anyhow.

I'll get there, I promise. Ive got multiple orders on BJ26 hatches right now and Ive hit some kind of stumbling block with them.. I think it has to do w/ the cold weather. In short, they are kicking my tail right now. Ive got to focus all my attention to that right now. Cant even get one of my other boats back together for this weekends racing events.

                        Brian,

I dug the rigger out. The hatch is 2" x 7-1/4" I dont think that gray one will work. Looks like it would be all bubble.

No problem, sorry I couldn't help you out.

I was laying up a 1/16 hydro last night and with the extra resin, laid up a small mystic hatch out of the kevlar/carbon. I think it looks killer!

Actually took some time this evening and played with the vacuum former. Getting better, but have lots to learn still.

Anyways, went a bit crazy! hatches for my 40" scarab, 1/10 crackerbox, 24" shallow mono, and a couple of smaller mystic cats, and one more cowl for a 1/16 shovel nose. No fear of my boats ever running out of hatches.

All of these are .040 hips except the 40" scarab hatches, they are .060.
