You are correct sir - but as soon as I posted it I recognized that it was the MR3000 RX, which retails for $77 alone and the Tx retails for $62 for a total retail of $139. The unit is brand new in the box and comes with the warrenty card. All for $100 shipped to the lower 48. Saves you 40 bucks (more than that if you consider tax).Comment

Excellent advice! My Tactic ran beautifully in my BJ26, FasTECH and Apache boats. My whole issue is the antennae sticking out of the hull - it drives me nuts. I guess I could get by with the Spektrum IF only the active portion of the antennae stuck out and none of the coax - that way I could just clip the excess antennae tube. What king of range do you think I would get with that then? I never run my boats farther than 200 yards away from me on any lake I drive on...Comment

Well over 200 yards, for sure. I think most of the testers ran them out over 700' and VISIBILITY was the problem, not range.
Are you sure you run that far away? That's 2 football fields out. With a 2' boat you aren't going to have much to see. It's about the same as a softball looking from one goalpost to another. Not much fun driving a boat you can't see, imho.
I'm serious about testing, not just because I work for Spektrum. There's a huge difference in signal strength the closer you get to the water, and a 1" separation from the receiver to the water with a signal from near water-level 600' away is going to be a challenge to do reliably, with the boat pointing in all directions. What happens if you get the battery pack between you and the rx? 2.4g systems need for the antenna to be very visible line-of-sight to one another. At those distances, it doesn't take much at all to block the signal. Also, the best orientation for the antenna is perpendicular to the water surface.
Do yourself a favor, test both radios well beyond your normal operating range first.
