You need a pic if you're going to post in the Swap Shop.

I'd like to see the pic(s) have a small piece of paper or something in the shot with the DATE written on it. That prevents using a picture when the item was new and now it looks a lot worse for wear!

That idea was posted on the other thread. I like the idea but after giving the whole problem some thought,

How many items have sold in the swap shop area? A ton. I would guesstimate over a thousand.
How many problems have occured? Maybe 10 or less.

I would hate to become "police state" if we dont have to. Also this is a "Swap Shop", As we start applying more and more rules it slowly becomes a Auction area.

The point of using a piece of paper was to have the date written on it. Showing how current the item in question is. Who's to know, the pic may showing in the swap shop may have been taken when the item was brand new. Then when it gets to your door its been abused and looks nothing like what was in the picture. Then your screwed. But I'm game for whatever the Steven and the boys say. I have been a dedicated member and will be as long as the forum stays open.

                        Im very aware of that.

Writing your screen name AND date on a piece of paper and taking a picture of it all is used on MANY forums.

                        It insures that:
1)The person posting the for sale ad is the person with the item (verified by name)
2)The items condition as seen when picture was taken.

If you do it with only the date what is to stop a scammer from snagging someones picture and claiming they have that item for sale? Nothing... Thats what.

I agree with Steven's analysis. The incidence of major problems in the Swap Shop is tiny. Too many rules reduce the ease and fun of transactions - why penalize the honest folks? Why become a police state just because someone thinks it is a "good idea".

I can add any date I want to any picture I want in photoshop just be satisfied with a picture of the item for sale. Also how many pictures of items that are posted are good enough to show the actual condition of the item? Not many unless you are talking about a boat hull then is is easier to see. All damage scratches ect should show in the item description. My point most people don't have cameras good enough or have the experience in photography to deliver the kind of pictures that will show what you want

If you are not comfortable with the item picture, or the persons description of the item or their lack of feedback then use your brain and don't deal with them.
