Shipped a motor to B.C. today from Michigan. Sent as a gift with value of 40 bucks. Shipping was $6.90 for parcel post and 27.00 for priority. Needless to say, it went PP.

Cool, I wish I could buy an insane hydro but, $225 -235 at the door will cost me $$$ in tax & duty.

If I were to ask him, ship it Air parcel, Value set @ $55 US, packed well, marked gift, I would pay no taxes, no duty.

I hereby assume all shipping liability and understand insurance would be limited to $55US.

What is the sellers worry? He is not a registered company (or is he, does it really matter anyway?...) and the value he sets is what HE believes or what "we" believe the hull to be valued at.

Again, seller has no liability, I assume it all.

I'd paypal him today, otherwise, forgetabout it.

So many people have been conditioned into fear thinking that big brother is about to POUNCE on you because you thought for yourself.... OY VEY!!!

Maybe I'LL just have him ship one to my Niece in FLA. then she will do it for me. She is not afraid of the big bad wolf...

Or, you could move to Florida for the winter, pay no duty and 1/3 the shipping and run every day like we do. LOL BG

THANK YOU............I have noticed many new listings this weekend which do not exclude shipping to Canada, instead asking for the actual shipping costs. Canadians appreciate this and do not mind paying a few more dollars for transit costs. Thanks again... BG

I have shipped props all over the world using USPS flat rate boxes and to this day have never had anything lost. It is sometimes hard to quote a price though if folks don't tell me where they live. I do check out their profile but sometimes 2 letter abbreviations are misleading.

P.S. I don't mind following specific requests as far as shipping goes.

I just got my UL-1 from srush99 and it arrived in 8 days (including weekend days). The shipping (including insurance) from the states was only $30.

I told him to be completely honest on the customs declaration ($200) and I paid duty when I picked it up ($31 which included the brokerage fee).

I can't complain about that...(and me not complaining is a rare thing)!

USPS right? $5 brokerage and $26 tax? See, that I wouldn't mind paying. It's when it goes by UPS or FedEx and that $5 becomes $20-$25.

Yup it was USPS. Nice and cheap and surprisingly fast.

Maybe CCRA (customs) wanted their money so the package came even faster than if it would not have needed duty paid...probably not, but it's a possibility.
