    WTB: lexan, polycarbonate, fiber glass?

I am building a new cowl hatch for my mean machine.....I found a nice cowl hatch cover I want to fit on top of a 3/16" or 1/4" lexan sheet approx. 6" x 16"

any suggestions on where I can find a cheap piece of this material?

I remember seeing a thread somewhere where a guy built a mean machine that was powered by two airboat electric motors...the motors were mounted on top of a flat piece of materieal like I am looking for...the motors and hatch were all flat black color but i cant find the thread...anyone see this MM I am refering to and give me the link?

They have various thicknesses and different types. I picked up some thinner lexan as of recent from Lowes and they had a good selection at minimal cost. Ask them about scraps as well.

ok i called lowes and they have acrylic plexi....is this stuff tuff enough for FE?

a piece 18"x24" is only 14 bucks and they will cut it for you also

can it be used for like motor mounts or servo mounts?

What Lowe's has cracks really easy. Not very durable.

Seems strange. My local Lowes has Lexan. Maybe there's a local battlebot club around I don't know about!

Maybe my Lowes is retarded. I've tried their stuff and it shatters when you try to cut it. If you indeed have LEXAN it should be OK. Personally, I'd rather have G3 fiberglass sheet. You can get it from McMasters-Carr. Google 'em.

Personally, I'm not familiar with that material. What are the characteristics and do you know where I can find data such as performance on it?
