OK this gift is a little bit fun/seasonal/gag gift all in one.

I think it is pretty cool and can be used in a few different ways depending what you do with it.

I am NOT going to post a picture of it and I want it to be a surprise.

Working in the marine propulsion field for 25 years; especially large workboats, ferries, and large fishing boats, but also large pleasure craft (yachts) (all diesel or now including hybrid systems)
I roar to life, pushing boats ahead, "roar to life" must mean an engine - diesel or gas or other fuel. Electric motors don't roar to life. Could be the diesel driving the genset which powers the electric motor or charges the batteries?

What am I, humming loud as the boat surges fast? "humming loud" could be an electric motor but unless it's fully battery powered like the new Maid of the Mist Ferries, an engine will be on board.

I would have guessed an engine! LOL All in fun!

I googled boat riddle and this was the best one. Technically said boat motor but figured close enough. the question is what size style and type!?
