I think when it comes to 100mph+ runs without breaking a boat...I still have you beat
To be fair, when I broke that boat it was on a run where I had de-tuned it. I went down in voltage AND prop size, so it was only set up to run ~95mph. After multiple runs at 120mph+ and no damage, it was one of the slowest runs I ever made that hurt it. That was also the first time ever that I ran the (weaker) painted hatch. Up until that run I only used the reinforced Kevlar hatch as a caution.
Running slower with the boat made me more comfortable (read: reckless) with it. A friend was flying a 70-80mph plane overhead with a camera facing down at the boat, and I would wait for him to get ahead, then catch up and blow by. I was making such long runs across the lake that I couldn't really see the water conditions when it was far away, and as my wakes stacked up, I ended up getting hit from the side with waves that I never saw. That boat could have handled 9/10 100mph crashes, but unfortunately it got NO air time, and dispersed all of it's energy in one fatal blow. It was just a perfect hit, on a not-so-perfect day.
SO...
The moral of the story is this:
DONT RUN IT BELOW 100MPH! It's dangerous!
