Im still for cutting the lock. All theyre going to do is remove ours and take it. Im so over sarasota county parks and rec. I wish we coud get the hell outta ackerman. Its not like they give a damn about us anyway.Comment

My thought is to cut the chain in half and put our lock in the middle. That way they would have to replace the chain as well.Comment

Hi Guys! Hope you dont mind but I subbed to your thread some time ago to help get some ideas for ours http://www.buffalomodelboat.com/index.html . I come in and read your posts and find it very helpful with lots of great suggestions, not to mention the camaraderie among you. Great thread! This might be helpful info.
Its removable by unscrewing the center on one side and looks very similar to the O.E. link. They may not notice it right away and you wont lose a lock if they cut it off. Readily available at your local hardware store.
Dont cut their lock off. Cut the last link closest to the pole opposite of their lock or what ever it's connected to. That way you can reconnect it without damage and no one will really know about it except for the club members. Just a suggestion guys :)Comment

We had a turn buckle on it and the county removed it and installed the lock. Ive called them countless times and NEVER get an answer.
I just got off the phone w/ the county parks and rec emergency service reporting. I spoke w/ a woman named Jeniffer and said a technician would call me back today... gee, where haveI heard that before????? I explained to her the urgency and of the issues we have w/ the neighboring roofing company on the west side. Ill report back if I hear anything.Comment

Actually got a call back from a guy named Mike. Apparently hes not necessarily a parks and rec guy but he may have a key. Chris is going to stop by Ackerman on his way home today and get the lock number so I can call Mike back and see if hes able to unlock it. I now fully understand Jims frustration he had w/ the county and getting things done.. or even an answer. this is going on 5 months about gate issues.....Comment

They are calling for some rain late tonight to early in the am. Wind pattern and speed is still showing the same. I'm hoping it's not going to be a blowout or rainout as I have way more packs charged than I want to run down at home.Comment

I do have good news. Ive actually had 3 people form the county contact me today about the lock issue. It is now unlocked and if for some reason we have an issue in the am, I have a contact number of someone who is just around the corner who will unlock it again if needed. One of the persons who contacted me was a very nice and is looking forward to meeting with me this week and adding another "club" lock. Im astonished I can make progress on this issue on a SATURDAY, but couldnt get anyone to help or call back during the weeks Ive tried. I was also given 2 cell phone numbers of different people where if we ever have a problem we can get immediate assistance. I keep pinching myself to see if Im awake.......
Front is indeed arriving here as well. It went from beautiful skies to complete over cast w/ in the last 15 minutes. We all know what happens after the front... wind is going to be blowing in our faces tomorrow. Good news about that is the boats get blown back to us when they go over.
I worked on customer boats all day and didnt do a thing to any of mine, so I may be coming empty handed or with only LSO.Comment

I just got home and was going to post the news but you've covered it all.
Frankly, I'm amazed this all happened with in a couple of hours (after months of calling) from when you first called me this morning.
Now I need to run out and buy a lottery ticket!Comment

Great news on the gate. (finally)
I think the wind is going to be blowing toward us and the main road at the same time with it blowing more toward the road. (if airnet is right). Still works as a bonus since it will keep stalled boats away from those aggravating trees at the west end.Comment
