I can teach you ways to coax the MRS into letting you out to play more often.... :)

Even the D-1 director was shaking his head in disbelief. No worries though Olly had my back while I checked and changed batteries. Oh by the way where were you Mr. JBD a big race like this 40 min. away and you don't show up. WTF. get over yourself and come and race. We all Know FE gets a bum rap. Deal with it. Come and race and fill on lookers with knowledge, they were impressed with the speed and stealth of the FE boats!!

      Cheers, Jay.
You were busy, that's for sure. After P-Sport hydro having 3 heats in between you would be able to untape, unplug, put on charger 1st set of packs. After p-limited cat same thing if you have a second charger, I think you did. Then you had three back to back classes, that is difficult I can only imagine but, by the time those heats are done so should have the cells for your 1st two classes then there was a break until the next round but, I'm not sure how much time you had.
If it were me after the first round on Saturday and I knew I could not keep up the pace of 5 classes I would have scaled it back and backed out of at least one class like open Mono that is killer for charge time but, that's just me. Again, I'll try to look at the Data from the race with Terry and see what could have been changed or improved to possibly make it easier. Thank you Jay for all your hard work and your always gritty but fun banter.

Ray your a class act, wish I had more time to hang out with you.
Your boats ran great and you were driving like you stole it.
Jay stop whining and try running less boats like the rest of us do.lol
Its just to much and our guests come first.
Awesome event , hope to see more FE guys and gals next year.

After seeing the number of FE classes at this race I was disappointed that I couldn't make it. Club obligations. Hoping that next year scheduling will be better and I won't have a conflict.
Caution: Does not play well with others!

I'm truly sorry you feel that way, really don't know what to tell you.
I would have loved to run more classes myself( could easily have run six) but I knew I was expected to help out.
Plain and simple if we don't all help out where we can then there will be no race for anyone to come to.
It's just way to much to expect some of the club members to do everything so others can race, don't you think?
If I'm way off here give me a call and lets talk about it or maybe next year drop a couple classes so your not running around so much.

My first visit to any RC boat race ever!!!!!!!!! I brought my gang with me and we really enjoyed. It was amazing to see the pace of racing, variety of boats, and good sportsman like conduct. I came to see if this is something I could handle, YUP! Totally.... We're coming back! Thankyou to Terry and Ray, it was a pleasure to chat in the pits and appreciate you taking the time..... Danny

It's a bugger running a race and trying to race too. I limited myself to 3 classes max per day at the nats and my son to just one. Did a bunch or retrieval too. I doubt Ty will be willing to settle for one class a day again. Probably no more kids classes either.

Don't want to speak for Jay but I'm guessing that like me........ there's more to a race than just the laps. Rubbing elbows with a bunch of model boaters is pretty darned satisfying. Maybe next year I'll get to this one. I could bring my race nut job son along too.

So do you guys think you'll host this gig again around the same time next summer?

You know all too well the work involved hosting an event, I'm just now getting caught up and I didn't havta work all week like the rest of the guys.

Will be great to have you and the MMM gang up Terry, prolly same time next year. FE is growing both in our club and IMPBA D1, as Ray mentioned the Quebec guys are a hoot to be around and serious competitors.

We host a first class event and even though many of us race those noisy, stinky fuel boats I think you'll find we're totally FE friendly!

Our club has gotten pretty strong. With some planning maybe I can get them to gang up on you guys. Make it a not so hostile FE take over.

It was with great pleasure to meet you and talk about the differences in boat setups. The time was all fun and I love your boats. It was nice you brought your son yes? I hope you get some sleep since the race. Much fun running with you and your son and all those that made the drive from Quebec as well as the USA.

Old thread but I have a question for next years gig.

If a 15 year old comes, does he have to run in the novice class and nothing else?
If he runs in other classes is he therefore not eligible for the novice class?

I have a 15 yo and if he's running just one class I'll have to duct tape him to a stump or something for the bulk of the day.

I don't recall there being an age limit for ANY IMPBA (or NAMBA) class. (I would need to check to be 100% sure)

I think most clubs create a "Novice" class to prevent intimidation, negative perception, and a positive environment for families...

I looked through the IMPBA book and nothing stands out with respect to what you are asking...as far as I can see.

                                Here's my logic....

If he's a "Novice" then he should run only in that class (not good enough to run with the more "experienced" racers and could end up as a speed bump on the course).

If he runs in other classes than he should not run in "Novice" (as he's good enough already to run with the "experienced" racers) and the real "Novice's " would be out-matched.

Just my opinion though...others may think differently.

If he drives like his father, he should run on a separate pond altogether
