Turnigy Nano Tech Traxxas Replacement Battery up in smoke

    Fellas,

This is the 3s Nano Tech 5000mah 40c Replacement for the Traxxas 3s that is up in smoke. This series of battery just does not seem to fair well in boats. This is my 1st ever smoked battery so I pretty much know what i'm doing with set ups and in my experience they just can't handle the rigorous demands of amp draw and rc boating....... smh........ This video was started 4 minutes "after" I popped the lid on my Ariane 2 Mono where smoked was so thick I could not see the inside of the boat with the canopy off for several seconds...... no damage to the hull, just a battery up in smoke....Literally!

There needs to be a warning thread on the Nano's. Absolutely horrible Batts , maybe this will be the convincing thread. I cant think of one member that would buy or even recommend them. The best Hking batts are the standard blue Turnigy's and the Zippy's

I'm running 3 sets 4s Nano's (6000 mah) in my P-Spec boats and they run very well...

To say they are horrible batteries (as a blanket statement) is a bit overkill..

Thats my opinion and there are lots of threads about them, I would steer anyone away from them since they probably have a 30-50%% success rate, in boats anyways.

Personally I value my boats too much to chance them. Batteries are cheap, boats and/or electronics arent...... just sayin.

Good for spec setups, not the best for open setups like yours.

Well I have over 20 Nano Techs in all configurations up to 6S with only one failure due to my miss handling .

I know Paul uses some in his boats with no problem.

Like all batteries there are some failures and it sux's to the user.

I have seen brand new $200 top shelf brand batteries drop cells on their 5th run or so . Nano Techs are half the price normally and are in general a great battery for your buck if not the best.

Yeah, but i have never seen one particular battery get so much negative feedback. Tha standard blue turnigy's are very good and I havent seen any threads regarding them as "iffy" whereas these Nano threads pop up alot.

You know it took me two times me asking to get an answer from HK at what temp do they store their batteries at. Only after 2 screwed up orders did they answer me honestly that they are stored at over 100F. No thanks.... Revo Diamond 60-120C 4400mah 6S packs are $110 each and the same in Nanotech are $95, an ounce heavier and same dimensions. I've only used 25-35C nanos and they went up really fast in smoke 6S2P and that was enough to turn me off of them. I'd rather have a pack made as soon as I pay for it, not one in hot storage.

AS I said before the nano 65c never had a problem with and the a-spec I have work great as well. I would spend my money on Revo's right now though great price and perform very well.
