    60" Hydrofoil Test Run

I know it's not electric but I'm trying to share as much as I can about my dad's hydrofoil boats. This is his 60" gas hydrofoil on a test run last week. Only the 3rd time in the water since around 2004 when it sunk with his houseboat during, I believe, Hurricane Frances.

As for me and my brushless 24" hydrofoil it's very close. I was at the pond last Friday, ready to run and my still new Spektrum DX2S shut down on me again. I was getting ready to send it off for another warranty service but decided to see if there was anything I could do myself. Turns out the service center either didn't plug the screen's power connector in all the way or they left the wires loose enough that they bound up in the trigger. Regardless I think I fixed it myself and will give it another go at the pond ASAP. I'm really excited, brushless and LiPo is like nothing I've ever dealt with before, the thing is a beast!

    Looks pretty cool,
Just would like to see it running more and with some close up to see how it rides.
And good luck with your test run.

      Thanks Lenny!

He said this was shot on an iPad but he's got his eyes on a dedicated camera and a tripod so he can get some low angle views. Get some of those water level shots.

I'll mention he needs to get some close ups on the stand too, giving folks a better view in that respect.

        Cool,
I need to work on my driving and zooming skills to,
When videoing by my self with it setup like this.
I just use the tx and kind of aim it like a gun at the boat and work pretty good to stay in frame.
I am using a newer Jvc camcorder now and I rig it up the same way as in the pictures just about,
May give him some ideas for his.

Lenny that is brilliant! I've been wondering how I will film my boat once I get back in the water. Thanks!

And yeah it is loud for sure. He was at one point looking into an updated version with a big brushless and lipo combo but it was quicker to get this gas one running again. But the noise levels, like you say, are quite intense. He had trouble finding a lake he could run in without getting flack.

                Hey lp!

It's a custom built test boat from my dad's company Hydrofoils Inc. Everything is self designed and built by him. He builds these models to test out design ideas for full size boats - www.hydrofoil.com

There are a few 100 24" electric kits out there that we MFG'd back in the mid 1990s but unfortunately very few have surfaced over about the last year and a half that I've been looking online.
