I've heard that's a great club but just a ways from Dfw. I am planning to come down there sometime this summer to run with y'all.

            Looking great.

Just completed my GP335 hull and working on finding a home for the components in the tub and establishing my cg.

Still haven't decided on a battery configuration but it will definitely be a 4s setup. I have a number of 5000 mah 2s packs that I ran in series for my sv27's, kneeler hydro and JAE 21. Also have a single 5000 mah 4s-1p pack that I purchased last year for my kneeler.

My setup so far looks like this
            HK 4074-B motor 2000kv
            T-180
            Hitec 645 servo
            3/16 flex shaft

I'd be interested in hearing about how yours is set up and where your cg ended up?

              John,

Sorry for the late reply! I had forgotten about this thread. I'm using a 1521 1.5D on 4S 5000mah with a castle 240 Hydra not sure what the COG is but here's a pic. i had got kinda lucky with the COG because of the little room to play. here's a pic ..photo.JPG 15.jpg

Have you got her wet yet?

No problem, Todd but thanks for the reply.

I am several weeks away from getting this one wet. Haven't been able to get at it for a whole lotta reasons this winter. The T-180 has a much larger footprint and profile than I was used to with the T-120's I've used in my other boats so I will be playing around with the setup to find a decent home for it. Actually I have experimented with its location in either a 4s1p setup or 4s2p and I think I can do a setup that will allow me to move it around depending on battery configuration.

A couple of new 4s packs are on route from HK along with some additional hardware. spent the weekend configuring ESC and elogger connectors. Haven't come up with a turnfin for it yet. I'm batting 500 in the fabricating my own turn fins. Made one for my Kneeler Hydro that works nicely but didn't fare as well making one for my JAE21 rigger. I was wondering how a UL-1 fin would work on the boat.

Will be nice to compare notes once this thing is in the water.

                John

Thanks Brushless! It was my first wood build and i've been very happy with it..so much so I've almost got the GP400 for Q almost done!

                    John,
I had the same issue with my T-180 with it not fitting after I had laid a thin piece of plywood to make a level area in front for the batts. I don't think it would be an issue using the T-180 with the new cowl Mike offers for the GP335. As far as the turn fin goes the UL-1 fin you can try but I don't really think it's enough for the size hydro it is? I have the Blazer Marine sport 40 on the mine and it works great...little overkill maybe as you could go with the sport 20 fin they offer. I bought the unsharpened and a friend in my club grinded it down for me. I'll be using the same sport 40 on the GP400 as well. Keep me posted on your build.

                      Todd

Those cowls tipped the scales for me towards MLboatworks when I was considering building a sport20. I prefer the look of the later model hydros and knew that the design would afford me extra room to orient the motor and locate the electronics. Mike has put together an excellent kit and I hope I can do design justice by setting it up well. I know I can get the T180 in there I just want to be a little creative in how I do that to keep everything clean.

As far as the turnfin is concerned I had looked at the Blazer Marine unsharpened one but didn't see a corresponding mounting bracket. Guess I'll go back and look again. Sharpening the fin shouldn't be a problem at all.

The bracket is the gas turn fin bracket I believe? Here's a pic:photo.JPG

                          Thanks.

I just checked these out. The turnfin and bracket are certainly affordable enough but the shipping costs to Ontario using USPS are actually more than the cost of the turnfin and bracket . . . . Guess I'm gonna keep looking.

Just finishing up my GP400 waiting on motor to arrive...then my GP335 will get some build attention. I had a nice conversation with Mike L. recently about CG, he said "the CG that was working the best was 1-1 1/2 inches behind sponson heal" I awhile back had to ask where the sponson heal was, its where the turnfin mounts.....

Todd, nicely done brother ! your GP is running fast and smooth. Is your GP the first version or the V2 ?....I like your Avatar John.....DJ

You could try to email Brian and ask him to ship USPS instead.... might help...
