drag racing r/c boat Thai style

i would like to show the vid of drag racing r/c boat in Thailand.
we usually race in short distance (less than 100 m), max speed can be close at 100 km/hr.
the hull shape is Thai style and made from plywood. there is a long shaft of prop like Thai model.

    power set : 180 A, 3S , 380l-xl

Well, this looks like it might be right up our alley. I saw a thread about these boats some time back and wondered why drag racing hasn't been embraced by the US model boating clubs.

Legg Lake would be a perfect venue for Drag Racing.

I posted the bit of history below in the other drag racing thread from yesterday:

The idea has been tried several times in the US - but always fizzled. The Devil Mountian club in California had great plans and designed several boats (all too small IMO) but nothing really came of it. Here in Texas a small group of gas boaters had a club, rules, timers et al, and they invited us to join them. Our FE club put together several FE boats (modified oval boats) and did some informal testing on the 167-foot (IIRC) course. We got some impressive numbers compared to what the gas guys were claiming, but their club fizzled before any formal racing was ever done. The oldest Thai video is 9 years old so apparently they have been able to maintain the momentum....

                        Jay,

                        Thanks for the info.

I'd love to get some closeup pics of the hulls so I could build one, might be a way of drumming up some interest if people see them up close and personal.

Also, any chance your plans have changed for the LL Saw event in Nov?

I have built around 25 to 30 1/10 scale drag boats and build a few each year for 1 to 1 drag racers to play with when they are relaxing. The boats were designed when the power was smaller. Since the 1/10 Parma motor is not in production we looked for another dummy motor there is a 1/6 scale and I have plans to build a 1/6 hydro and runner bottom just need to find the time.
Some of the little boats I have built, 21 inches to 23 inches.

Randy has shown some. One club member has a scale 10S runner bottomed mono with 3rd channel controlled full width trim tabs. Next time I'm at his home I'll take a pic.

As for Legg Lake, I had moved an important project back so I could attend the October event. The new date is right into the middle of the project. So, no go for me.

Here are a few pics of my R/C dragboats. I built the first one "High Voltage" in 1993. It was supposed to look like a Deaver hull, MADNESS TFH 1/10 scale, but not black. Got it up to 76mph, dozens of crashes, until it was not repairable. RedBull is the newest one, kinda like the TOXIC ROCKET TFH rigger. RedBull got up to 80mph and then complete destruction. I would use about 200' to run and about 150' to shut down at most depending on the prop, 0-75mph in about 3.5 sec. I have eagle tree so I have tons of data. Both were on 6s. 15 years, 80mph, many $, and still never gone full throttle. Its a strange obsession.drag day 040.jpgdrag day 010.jpgrb rigger 007.jpg
