Went out on the real boat this weekend and brought along a friend (ProBoat Miss Geico). Threw together a quick vid of running out at Egmont Key here in Florida. Wasn't ideal conditions for speed runs but the 10-15knt winds created a nice little rolling tide on the front side of the island which made for some fun offshore-esque running.

Really? First off..pedestrians? Really? Anyways, I didn't know my grandmother learned how to use a computer and took up an interest in r/c boating. Are your serious man?
Maybe I should put a disclaimer in the video that says no "pedestrians" were put in harms way during the filming of this video.Comment

Again, first off...pedestrians? But seriously, the only people anywhere near the boat running would be myself in the water running it and a friend working the camera. If it's too much for you to handle I apologize, my bad...Comment

Nice video and good music to go with it. What kind of camera was your buddy using? Really good action footage in the water versus being up on land, captures the speed of the boat much better.Comment

Thanks man, We we're using my GoPro HDHero 2. Just got it this past christmas from the wifey. That thing is a beast! I was trying to get full speed footage running close parallel to the land, and the camera took a hit from a low hanging branch at 50+ mph and kept on ticking like its was nothing, although it did rip the mount off the boat along with a nice chunk of paint. The water temp just reached a tolerable temperature so this was my first attempt at close up in the water shots.Comment

Nope, not if I take the time before and after to prep and clean the boats.
Before hand all electronics are coated with liquid electric tape, all hoses secured with clamps or zip ties, and double and triple check the hull for leaks. Afterwards i treat the boat just like the real boat i got out to this island on, flushing out the lines with fresh water and salt away, then rinse the whole boat down with the same. Then coat everything metal with corrosion inhibitor of your choice and let air dry with lid off and your good to go. For me doing circles in a pond is fun, but my short attention span needs a little more sometimes.Comment

I have a squirt bottle of salt away that i spray into the water outlet on side of boat until I see it coming out the pickup in the rudder. WHile that soaks in I spray the rest of the boat down with salt away then I just take my hose and put the nozzles to the water outlet and let it flow until its clear water coming out the pick up, rinse off the boat, then I just use my mouth the blow the remaining water out of the lines, and whip down the rest of boat with towel to dry. It takes about 5-10 min per boat and it makes all the difference in the world, all metal parts in the boat look brand new and I picked this up when it first came out in '10 and have run it in saltwater more than fresh, so anyone that says don't run in salt water is just a puss.Comment
