    Jersey Skiff Run/Test

I'm having lots of fun doing this, but getting the boat "there" is is a little challanging since I really don't know where "there" is My major concern is the side-to-side rocking on the straights which , by listening to the prop sound, seems to occur when the prop unvents and re-enters causing torque roll. I've encountered this on my race monos and tuned it out by lowering the strut some. I lowered the strut on the JS but had the tabs down on the first run (not pictured) and the stern was raised as a result of this, with lots of rocking. The run in the vid was with the tabs brought up, and went back to an X442 from the previous 440/3. Since these hulls are technically a full displacement flatbottom but are powered far past the original design's "terminal hull speed", I'm of the opinion that this is just about how these boats run - by watching lots of gas skiffs I think I'm in the ballpark here. (Yes, I'll dial out some rudder throw to avoid those embarassing spinouts )

Also, pix of the new graphics

    Tony,

You might be able to tune that out more by adjusting the right-side trim tab. Make sure they are making contact with the water/spray when the boat is at full-tilt so that the adjustments will be affective. Having the tabs too far out from the keel will prevent them from being affective in the straights at speed.

Turn the right one down a bit at a time and you may be able to help correct this issue...

Thanks, Darin. I'll give it a try. Setting the boat up was a walk into uncharted territory for me. The tabs are located where the "inter-Ocular Trauma" method indicated - I just stared at the transom until the appropriate-seeming location hit me between the eyes, then I grabbed the drill

Darin, I studied the vid some more and I agree - right-side tab down more. Seems the rocking starts when the boat starts to torque-roll to the right.

Here's a JS gas race;( turn down the volume if you have sensitive ears !)

some rock & some are dialed in better. I'll get with Mark & Kim - her skiff looks quite stable.

Rule just discovered! You do realize that the strakes (they are in the water on the turns) on this hull makes it illegal don't you? Too bad, it was a great idea while it lasted.

Darn Jay, you busted me . I guess it'll work as a SAW boat as long as I don't dip in any strakes while underway - Oh Wait - My motor's illegal; I inadvertantly transferred some natural oils from my fingertips to the motor wires while installing it thus strenghtening the insulation

Crap, I'll just have to give up & fly my new heli
