Yeah, I'm going to take your advice on how to run. I don't need the cable snapping, lol. The Gens Ace will come bullet connectors and you will need to have the Traxxas connectors soldered onto them or get adapters. A lot of the lipos are ridiculously overpriced. Some of the highly note worthy ones have been shown to run like any other cheap lipo. Gens Ace is getting more and more known and I and many have had great results with them.
New Spartan out of the box with lipos

Fluxn81 Im glad we met here. Between the two of us we might break new ground with the Spartan. Im already looking into a monster motor for the Spartan. Check out the Traxxas car that can run well over 100 mph geared and set up right, it has what looks like our motor on steroids. I want to see if a high grade prop can be found but after reflection, it just may be that the plastic one that comes with the Spartan may be about the best. I'm anxious to see if there is a performance boost with the huge 11.1v 8.400 mah lipos. I do expect longer running times of course. I'm going to move the batteries mid ships, and see how much speed it produces and weather or not it makes it squirrley. If that proves out, I'll move em back all the way, and wait for smooth water. Video will tell.
Aint it cool?Comment

I'm going to run the bigger cooling lines and the aluminum water jacket and if I notice any overheating, I will go will go from there.
It's good to have people who own the same stuff and I look forward to sharing our experiences.Comment

Too much run time can be your enemy as well.................. I wouldnt expect much more speed, if any, due to the weight. Do yourself a favor and mark with a sharpie pen inside the hull where the batts sat for the good vid runs..............folks start tinkering and sometimes you never get back to where it was...................took me several weeks to regain the poise on my 39" mono when i started messin with itComment

I dont see any issues my self on longer run times. Longer run times for me does not mean I run all out full throttle till the lipos are wasted. With the Spartan you cant do in the lipos that way because the esc cuts you down to just a small percentage of power when it senses the on set of a voltage too low for safety, so you can get it to shore with no worries. The boat is pretty fast and covers the lake fast too, your not running all out that much there is not enough room, though you can bank it over under full throttle and it makes sweet sweepers as long as you watch what your doing.
I do daily demonstrations for the people at the park and 90 % of that is at half speed or less, so when I do kick it in the butt its an attention getter, the kids love it. Weight is of no consideration, im not racing it. But the new Spartan is very very light in the first place, and the difference in weight between the 5000 mah lipos and the 8.400 lipos cant be that great. What ever it is, this boat can handle it. Talks cheap, videos rule. We will see as soon as my parts get here.Comment

I'm pullin for ya that everything works as planned, but keep this in mind...............here's a quote from Aquacraft, who builds boats specifically, about running boat ESC's and its true with all brands:

I ran 6s 5,000mah dual packs in parallel to get longer running time. The added weight is not an issue at all. In fact, I think it adds stability when running in rough water.
