Don't listen to the naysayers Chris, 15 years ago none of the monos here self-righted then one guy made one and ran a bit looser/faster gradually the rest followed suit and now they all do, and it improved the breed, you've done the innovation, make them innovate too or at least copy you to keep up, you can improve FE Mono racing leaps and bound right around the country if they don't change the rules to thwart you.

I'm trying to figure out if I'd enjoy racing monos, or any boat for that matter, if I didn't have to worry about reading the conditions.
If it was just a balls to the wall, trigger pulled through the handle beginning to end, going to finish unless something burns, race.

NativePaul is right, with self righters you will & can afford to take more chances on how you run & set your boats up. You find you will push your boats further & faster with more development than one that your conciese that will flip if pushed a little to much. You end up getting boats running looser & faster & in worse water conditions than you would normally even consider running in, simply because you can. Martin.

When you build mono I’m sure your putting CG as lower is possible to encourage stability and handling, hoping for lucky ending during barrel roll, secondly you probably notice boats witch flat top at higher speed are more unstable, which is consistent with wing profile.
And is not true you can squeeze trigger all time, when boat flips you lose time for traffic to pass, and often you end up with damage ruder and trim tabs.

I think you can win more often with consistency not the speed.
On the other hand we like speed.

Yes it can take time to self right but if a non self righter flips its all over. Re time it takes to self right depends on how you do your self righting. In my case i dont rely soleyon flood chambers filling, i use offset weight of components inside the boat + raised air bubble offset to one side + some balance weights on the deck to fine tune balance. The boat self rights so quick you dont even know some times it turned over. Martin.

We are on same page, air bubble on right side, battery on left. With air air deflectors I can move cg to 26% and she is more stable.
