First Run with MG 4074 4s

First run with my newly refurbished Miss Geico fitted with a tacon 4074 2000kv and a seaking 180a. It was extremely bouncy and i didnt know why but i found out when she stopped in the middle of pond (after the vid). Brought her back in, after trying to use my rescue boat (without a proper setup, no pvc nothin) and the rx pack was way far into the sponson, obviously disconnected from the rx. Still got a few things to work on, one being fitting my rescue boat to do some real rescuing

Id say low 40's.. hoping to fix that real soon EDIT: that was abut 80% throttle b/c it was so bouncy

Why are you using rx pack? Is the bec broken?

Im still farely new to all of this, but im learning. Not hundred percent sure but i think the rx pack takes a load off the esc and the batts, it powers the rx and the servo. I bet someone more experienced can give a few more reasons.

Well I don't think you need to worry about overloading that esc on 4s with that motor. You're ok to use bec. What prop is it? Rx packs are generally used for anything 5s and up.... Do you have rudder offset?

Yea i know, but i do plan on running 5s, and 6s to try and get a high speed. Ive got the offset and im running an x642. Soon ill pick up an m545 and m445, ive heard really good things about the m445.

Ahhh... Ok. Yes the m445 is better for that motor. 1.6 pitch props better for lower kv motors in the 1500kv range. Too much pitch for your motor. Try moving the strut way up to get rid of hopping

I do have the strut pretty low (a few mm down from stock) from running stock motor, offset, and the x642. Like i said, still learning

When you put the hull on a table, the strut should be at least 1/8 inch above sponson bottoms. If it still hops... Move it up until it starts to go away.

Right now, when i set it on a flat table the strut is holding the sponsons off the table a few mm. I'll put it up tonight, thanks.

Well i tried moving it up, and the x642 started to hit the strut. I tried to get a pic or two but it was a little dark and it was with my cellphone.

If you can tell the prop is about 1-2mm away from the strut and at that height the strut and sponsons are about even. Sponsons are on the table but the struts touching too.

Yes that is a problem with the inline system. Try it there and see how it goes. If you notice with say,,speedmaster struts for ex. There is no overhang....

If it were me, I would cut off everything behind the downbracket of your strut to make room for bigger props and adjustments. Then mount the rudder somewhere else. Otherwise you're gonna have a hard time getting a 445 to work wel. Jmo

Yeah id probably just buy a speedmaster strut just to keep the stock intact just incase, im one a those guys. Then id probably buy a seperate rudder, maybe 4" dual intake? Mount it to the right of the servo arm.

Im workin on another boat right now though, first acutal build. Actually its kind of a reconstruction. Puttin my money there for now. Cant have everything!
