    Hi from the UK

    Hi Guys,
Just signed up as I'm building a boogie board airboat and was looking at a thread.
I'm in Staffordshire which is right in the middle of the UK.
I sail at a local power station lake where we also fly indoor helis.
We have a cheap stock formula "Club 500" speedboat racing series which starts next week for 2011, I was fortunate enough to win last year so am racing number 1!
Anyhow I thought I'd post a video as a way of introduction.
This is my offshore warrior, stock with no adjustments filmed by my 9 year old son Joel....

Hi & welcome, im also in the UK but right down on the south coast in Portsmouth. I think the Joysway Warrior is one of the best micro boats around. Ive seen a lot of fancy quite expensive micro mono hulls run & they dont come close to how the Warrior handles & the speed it has for so little money. I think a lot of people over look this boat when looking for a micro boat, It dosnt have the name so to speek i think. I love them. Thanks Martin.

      Hi Martin,
You're right, my mate has a very expensive mono hull fast electric boat that isn't half as well behaved! I just fitted a 3600 KV motor (£10 from Giant Cod) as I'd knackered the bearings in the original 3000kv, man the thing absoloutely flies and howls like a Banshee! One problem though it sheared the drive shaft so I'm replacing it with a thicker one!

I will say i did shear a couple of flexes at one time but not for a long time though, You must keep enough clearance between the dog & strut as the load is taken by the motor bearings & not the dog running agaist the strut. To close a fit to the strut & when the shaft winds up & shortens bang & its gone. Heres mine running a £8 3800kv on outrunner from Hong Kong & £13 60amp esc from Giantcod & 3s lipo. Martin.

          Very nice!
I have the same GC ESC that you are running.
When I sheared the flexi it went at the motor end and the whole shaft, dog and prop went awol!
What prop are you running? I'm still running the standard plastic jobby.

Yes thats where they tend to break at the motor end, The grub screws bite into the flex & where you keep taking the shaft out for greasing constantly undoing & doing up the screws it chews the flex + because it a flex you cant tighten down positively like with a solid shaft. I started soldering that end of the flex around 20mm long & although it improved it a bit it was not the answer. In the end i make a solid steel end the same as the other end where the prop goes on but only around 20mm long & solder it onto the flex. This piece then goes into the brass coupling. I also put a flat on this piece so one of the grub screws tightens on the flat the other one just tightens onto the round part. I have to shorten the flex so i can add this solid piece to keep the length right,I also open up the coupling hole from 2.3mm to 2.9mm as this piece i make is 2.9mm so it will slide in the strut ball races that are 3mm id. Props you have to be carefull with because going up in size & from plastic to metal you have a lot more amp draw but its faster. Im prepared to accept that risk & know that. Prop is a metal Octura x435 sharpened & balanced. My boats had a very hard time running at these speeds. When they hid the water & lake bed it does a lot of damage hence a lot of battle scars. Martin.

I had to add trim tabs as the speeds started to climb to stabalise the hull, Bottom of the hull is filled at the rear to take a hook out of the hull which is bad on a hull & affects the running charactoristics a lot. Its also 100% self righting as id be in the lake constanly retrieving other wise. Bottom of the hull has also been scrubed with 600grit wet & dry, Rudder shortened & thined down for less drag but this will reduce turning sharpness as im only interested in going as fast as i can in straight dashes but it still turns ok just not as sharp. Martin.
