Spartan 6S lipo run with dual pickup rudder & more.
I ran it on 6S yesterday (1-28-11) with the new cooling system I did up. I was running it hard to see how it would do. Temps never got over 80*F. They were a little lower than that really. Ran hard for testing for about 8mins then hit LVC.
Here is the video from that run. I think something was on the lens when I was recording because it’s a little blurry. Or maybe the camera kept focusing on the limb.

Using the stock prop for now. Ive just adjusted the strut a bit for pushing the hull nose up. there is a link in the 1st post under new cooling system to whats been done.

Todays test resulted in a run of 48.4 MPH. I accomplished this testing another prop. It was a Prather 220. The stock prop gave me a GPS speed of 43 MPH. There are several clips all tied into this video from today because I was testing, but the runs were all done on the same pair of charged lipos. So they ran for about 7+ mins before the LVC kicked in. I should mention the cooling system is still my v2 modification so the boat was running cool and never broke over 90 degrees fahrenheit.

I seem to remember that i posted on 21-1-2011 under the Trasxxas threads titled Thermal issue with new Traxxas Spartan post number 57 & 60. That i said it needed 2 separate water feeds & that an aluminium cooling jacket would be better than silicon because of less restriction inside the jacket & better heat transfer with aluminium over silicon. Good to see a possible solution thats not to expensive to correct. If you wont to push that extra bit to 50mph scrub the hull bottom. Thanks Martin.

I've done this to my nitro boats in the past. But used 1000 grit sandpaper. I think I'll give it a try on this one. I was holding that trick for last lol.

I always use 600 wet & dry with linear strokes from front to back being carefull not to take the sharpe edges of the rails & chines. Not sure how plastic reacts to scrubbing but i wouldnt of thought it will cause any problems wothe the plastic. Thanks Martin.

Their was a disscusion on scrubbing hulls a couple of weeks ago & the general concensus was useing linear strokes front to back works better. Thanks Martin.
