    Next Generation Onboard Video Technology

Just back from CES with some incredible new technology. This may permit FE performance evaluation beyond what is available in one self-contained package!
I can add guages for RPM, temps, Amps, etc.....................

Well, ALMOST....this housing does not work with their NEW GPS integrated HD unit unfortunately. This is why the 8 cent condom! (remember they were 12 per 99 cents!)

Yes, that is the camera, however the available housing will not fit the GPS model however it will fit all the previous models. Here is the quote from their web site:

"Right now, we are expecting sometime in January for the WP case. However, until we get the prototypes out of the mold and tested, we won't know for certain."

I would imagine it will be a few months before the model with the extended base that fits the GPS Contour will be available. Until then it's an 8 cent condom!

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it!

Picking up a tad more speed and adjusted the camera better. I think this technology has potential. Here is the video with the Contour GPS HD Condom Cam still on a Mean Machine........

                Joe,

Very nice indeed. How are the additional inputs added for the RPM, temps, and Amps? Can it take the feeds straight from your EagleTree?
It is interesting to see the lag in the GPS speed as compared to the speed the boat is actually doing.

You have all the cool toys!

Glad to see you practice "safe boating" with the condom.

                Have fun testing....

How accurate do you think the gps is?

Now all we need a to be able to transmit the live camera to the dock. That would make for some interesting races if no one was able to peek at their boat on the water. Just the virtual screen.

Brad, it is a bit complicated but here is how it works. The Eagle Tree data is stored in a logger like the V-3's that many are using. It is stored in a .BDR format. This format is converted to .CSV format which is basically Excel compatable and a comma deliminated format. I have a special software program that takes this data and overlays it on the video in a wide variety of guages. I can control the size, type and placement of these guages on the video overlay. I can do English or Metric.

The lag was due to YouTube. I will be posting on Vimeo which seems much better. I can also compensate for the delay...just have to run a few tests to see what it actually is between the video-audio-and data then apply the correction and it should sync perfectly.

Have my 16 foot electric recovery boat fixed. Thinking of getting the gang together on Sat at my lake...I will check with Tony, Mark, Jan, etc......... Thinking about 10 AM to around 4 PM or so. What is your schedule like? Tony, what about you?

A Contour GPS HD camera is mounted to the deck lid of a Pursuit fast electric RC boat. A wide angle lens is attached to the Contour camera to provide a fish eye point of view. A non-lubricated condom is used for water protection on the Contour GPS HD camera. Using DashWare software, a set of gauges are included on the video. THESE GUAGES ARE NOT ACTIVE AT THIS TIME. The purpose is only to determine placement and feasibility of this video configuration.

Video of my Pursuit with the Countour GPS cam and dual speedometers (MPH and KPH) that are active. Unfortunately I did not sync them so they are off with the audio and video.

I took off the Contour GPS HD camera because it made me driver very cautiously and put my Garmin GPS inside the Pursuit. Recorded 52 MPH but do not want to attempt that will an expensive HD video camera on the outside!
