    H&M Shovel Nose

    Well here she is. I originally had it powered with a SV motor but luck of the draw I got a bum one so I put an 9xl in it. She running a x440. It's still a little fast for what I was going for but o well. This is with the turn fin I made also.

    Nigel also did a great job driving in that wind!

      Thanks bro. She's 31.5" long and 14" wide. I got her from a good friend. None other than Mr. Properchopper. These are so much fun to run.

              Yes decals will be made. I just need to get to my pops shop and cut it out. He changed to a new program so the file I had is not compatible with the one he is using now. I also put a order in for some instrument panels and stuff. More to come.

                George ! Got CHILLS watching the vid !! Nice Job !! Pretty in Pink !! The 9XL is a good choice - good runtime & temps with the conservative prop. BTW learned a bunch from your turn fin discussion-had some issues with the Vegas after replacing my fin bracket but read the chat & all is better now.

                Give my best to Nigel ! [ that head-on picture is priceless !! ]

                    Nope, it's "Sir" Nigel "Bubbles" Fuffingham ( from Birmingham) , renown vintage hydro pilot made famous for his daring escape from an inverted Shovelnose after cleverly (and quickly) chewing off one-half of his moustache which had gotten inexplicably intertwined in the steering mechanism whilst inverted ; the daring feat memorialized by the Royal Family, thus bestowing on him the title "SIR" for his quick thinking

                      Yes with the 9xl I can run four minutes safely with temps under 120 with 1p. That's basically what I was looking for. I'm sure it will spin a bigger prop but speed isn't the goal.

                      I'm hooked. Even got me looking at another vintage to a all out scale.

                        i like the h&m because of its size, most of them in the 24" range a little to small for me, if i were to get on e it would have to that one

                        very nice hydro looks like you got it dialed, do you know how fast it was going

                              Here's "Sir" Nigel's first run as a test driver for the H&M. After a few laps, he came in and reported, in his curiously charming Birmingham accent that : The strut was too high, the turn fin needed some adjusting, and a peculiar odor was emanating from the cockpit. After adjusting the strut & fin, we politely admonished "Sir" Nigel to go easy on the deviled eggs and beans, his longtime pre test-drive ritual prior to putting on his flotation suit as the suit itself would provide the necessary flotation in case of an unintended inversion
                              { As luck would have it, such an event ocurred later that day, which gave rise to awarding Sir Nigel the nickname "Bubbles"}
