I made another run this morning with an x452. Speed was around 50mph and temps were good. I hooked up eagle tree this time to get some data. The rpm was around 19k-20k in the straights. Is that about right for the rpm? unloaded rpm would be 28k. Here's a graph of amps.

Is that prop stock, just balanced and sharpened?

How much run time are you getting with the 452 prop and what cells are you using? I imagine a X455 detongued and backcut would give you 5 mph more and would still run fairly cool. I know I have seen guys running a X455/3 prop with the 1Y motor on 6s so I think you still have some room to prop up. I noticed that Neu motors like to be "Loaded" for them to work at their best.

I have two sets of packs for it.
              2-Thunderpower 6s 25c 5000
              2-PolyRc 6s 30c 5000

The last run was 4 1/2 min and I only put 2500mah back into each pack.

I have a x455 to try, I just wanted to start with the x450 and work my way up.
Does the amps I'm pulling seem about right? 70avg with highs in the 120-140 range.

The amps and rpm are low for best performance with the Neus. I'm not certain why the rpm is low - without the datalog I'd say you were lugging the motor, but 70 amps is barely enough to warm it up. What timing are you using? The "Y" Neus like plenty of advance.

Yep my Y winds like race timing, they seem to run cooler and faster with some advance.

how much timing do you think is good or best for the NEU?

I am sure every setup is going to run different. Any time I build a hull I run the lowest timing for a minute and check temps. Make timing changes and try it again until I find the setup that works good for me. On my Whiplash hull I run a 1515 1Y and could not get it to perform until I switched to a large prop and upped the timing to RACE from low...can't remember what the actual timing numbers are but I think it is at 14 or 15. When I ran it on low the motor and esc ran hotter and the boat was slower. I tinkered with this hull for almost a whole season before I finally figured it out. On my D wind Neu's I never tried to up the timing for Low and they seem to fly.
