With the 1521/1.5d I tried a m645, x450, and P230. I got the best performance out of the x450, it ran 50mph and temps were good.. With the 1527 I'll start at the x450 and work my way up.
I never weighed mine. I'm not really ever too concerned with weight actually. I know a lot of guy's run similar setups and it has been proven to work, so i went with it. I does seem quite heavy for a 34" cat though. I think it helps it handle well at speed.
Thats cool, mine weighs a little over 14 pounds ready to run and i just felt that was a bit heavy for a 34" cat. Was just interested to know if i was in the ballpark weight wise with the other sprintcat 34inch owners.
Hi All
Running a Sc40 with a Neu 1527/1Y, X450 (and a few other slightly larger props), Turnigy Marine 180A and 2 Turnigy x 6S 5000 20C Packs in parallel.
The thing handles brilliantly and turns like its on rails but mainly because it is slow.
I would say around 40mph. Even if it were not set up properly with strut height etc I would have expected a badly handling boat that was still faster than this.
Now the packs are quite new and should be able to deliver around 200amps as they are in parallel. I am running 8AWG wire in the parallel adapter with deans ultra connectors.
1. What amp draw should I be expecting? (I want to run around 60mph or more)
I have an eagle tree 100a but dont want to blow it up by pushing too much through it
2. What C rating packs do you folks run? I am planning to purchase some 40c packs but cant get any at the moment for a decent price
p.s. Just adding that everything comes back cool/slightly warm. Nothing seems to be working too hard, not even the packs.
(now I wonder if I am getting 100% throttle from my M8 with spectrum module, must check throttle trim)
Cheers

Get some proper plugs, ie Gold Bullets, Deans are good for 50amps max..
