    Skippercraft Q Hydro

Here's some pics of my new Q hydro. It is a Skippercraft from Australia. Running gear is TP 4060 1350 kv, ZTW200 esc, Speedmaster hardware.
I have a few small things to finish and hope to do a maiden run this Saturday. If all goes well it will race Sunday.

Nice paint Peter!!! Boat looks awesome. Waiting on the video .... I'd think about separate cooling for the motor and esc, but you will find that out on your first race ya? wait , today is Monday , how'd it go?

They do the job for a certain voltage range. Cap packs really need to be matched to the running voltage.

Single cooling is fine. I pulled the motor and esc from my existing Q hydro.

Will run this coming Saturday, forecast is a lot of wind though, not the best for testing, we'll see how it goes.

Well I got a couple of runs in on Saturday, ran ok straight off the bench. First couple of laps were slow so I recalibrated the throttle, that was better! Ran two batts through and dialed in the steering. Boat is super stable, perhaps a little too much, I need to get it to loosen up a bit yet.
Raced it on Sunday, two 2nds and a 4th. It's pretty hard to beat the rigger that won, every one else is running sport or full body hydros. The 4th place was due the boat stopping for some reason and losing a good half lap on the other boats.
I changed props, strut and adjusted the turn fin through the races to try and improve. a bit more testing and tuning to go but it is not far off.
Next time I'll put the gps in to see where it is at speed wise.

Sounds like you getting real close to having it run nice the " The 4th place was due the boat stopping for some reason " might it have been to a high setting on the LVC ? Just a guess at this point.Dont understand what you mean " too stable " ? video next ?

Nope, I think it may have been a loose plug or signal loss some how It went dead for a few seconds then was go again.

Dont understand what you mean " too stable " ? video next ?
Running almost 'wet', in 3" chop into the wind it was solid, no flightiness at all.
I don't do video. If someone else gets it on vid and posts it I will share a link.

Well a few more test runs with different props and I finally got a good run. Back onto the 1915 prop with a lighter battery. Running into 10 kph winds and 2"+ chop it just started to lift. Speed jumped up big time.
On a detongued X452 and Panther 6s 6000 mah pack it did a paltry 93 kph.
On the 1915 and a new Entropy 5500 mah...109 kph.
The Entropy pack is 180g lighter.

I changed the setup to lighten the boat.
TP 4050 1570 kv, V2 T-180 (yes I still have a couple) and used the lighter Entropy packs. Total weight saving 380g.
Ran a 5014 cnc prop, it didn't like that.
Changed to an ABC 1814, boom 112 kph!
Tried the smaller 1714 and speed dropped to 99 kph, but did six laps no worries, that'll be the rough water prop then.
I'll try the 1915 one day on this setup to see what it will do.
I have a round bottom strut coming to try also.
