    BlackJack 55" Fast Electrisized

So.... I saw a posting for a Miss Elam Gasser that was priced right... I had one a few years ago, and wanted another to stick a 4035/800 outrunner in for a fun scale looking boat to run around 50mph.... anyway I talked to the gentleman after leaving my phone number and came to an agreement on the boat, it was in driving distance so it was something I wanted.

After talking more and more, he told me the Miss Elam was actually a boat that was a review for RC boat magazine and that he was a editor/columnist for them... I told him what I was planning with the boat, and he thought it was a great idea. Soon after making the deal before I went to get the boat he stated his son too was a editor/columnist for the magazine in his spare time and had a couple boats he'd part with. One of them was a Blackjack 55 that was converted from a gasser brand new for a big writeup in the magazine.... my ears lit up as I always loved the size of the blackjack 55, and I knew it wasn't the best hull design in the world for FE or any boat for that matter, but was just a cool looking BIG boat. As I got farther into the conversation I knew I had to have it... all the parts were sourced from........ here it goes....... yes Fine Design... no bad comments please :) But lets face it, the parts were def pretty well sourced as far as components. Used in the build are:

    B&E Graphix

    >> Custom air release vinyl graphics—“Interceptor”

    Castle Creations

    >> Hydra Ice2 HV 200 speed control—010-0087-01

    Fine Design

    >> Black Diamond Nemesis Series 12,000 brushless motor, 12,000 watts, 16hp, 580Kv

    >> Aluminum square drive coupler

    Losi

    >> Fuel filter, aluminum, high-volume, LST (2)—LOSB5006

    Octura

    >> X470, 3-blade, Beryllium Copper propeller

    Sonic Tronics

    >> Mark X fuel pump 6V—Sot249

Includes a Tactic 2.4GHz radio system

Any way here are some pics sitting next to my MHZ mystic 114 for size comparison.... the boat runs on 12s, and the editor said the boat is VERY fast, so fast that it honestly scared him, well... if hes used to running RTR gas boats I wouldn't doubt it....

Anyway honest comments.... what do you think? Is it going to be fun? and should I pull the gear out to stiffen the hull with reinforcements? The hull and boat is absolutely mint shape only be using for the review and now sat in an office room since the 2013 volume 3 edition of RC boat magazine.

    more pics

more pics for viewing, This is a BIG BOAT!!! haha.... I think it will be a hoot running in the chop! Windex bottle shows the room for batts... umm l think I have enough space... the hard foam on top of the right side batt area is perfectly sized to make the batts have protection in case the Velcro comes loose... Kind of a good idea if you ask me... and the boats electric pump makes the boat "cool" even sitting at a stand still..... great for playing around!

Haha I know right... Honestly the misses was saying I could build a seat in it and could take her for rides inside of it lol... She literally could sit in there if the radio box was strong enough lol

The boat actually came with a balanced and sharpened nicely x470 2 blade not three blade prop... but boy isn't that a big prop for any electric motor? seems huge, apparently they ran it that way... wonder if I should prop down for my running though... just seems big!

Looks good! I used that same pump in my Spartan and kept everything nice and cool.
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

You can always put a gas engine there. j/k
Nice find, and I thoroughly enjoyed viewing these photos. This one was always my favorite.
Congrats and let us see a video when you run the cat.

Will do! I'm going to do some shortening of the wires a bit... and add a cap bank to the esc, just because it should be done... I can't believe they were turning a x470 prop on 12s.... I'm going to have to order another smaller prop for safety sake, seems like it might be a good idea to start off a little smaller... though apparently that's what they ran for the review.... the boat has a GPS foam area with ziplock bag over it... I'd like to know what the boat ran speed wise but the seller forgets.... he thinks it was in the 60's, which would make me more then happy in this size hull.... I'm also going to add some reinforcements to the hull up around the sponsons at the very least as I know its a weak point in these hulls... rather do it before stress cracks occur!

I'll suggest a Prather 245........maybe 250 for a good starting place, you may end up keeping it on there............never know

Yeh, those sound like good suggestions for sure....I'm going to see what steve has in stock now for the already sharpened/balanced versions... thanks for the suggestion! Doesn't a 70mm x470 sound a bit much???

                              I had a LMT 3080 rated at 459KV and it ran a x482 2 blade and X 470 3 blade without breaking a sweat!
