    75+mph 26" carbon fiber cat

I've had this on my mind for a while, to try and exceed 70mph with my little 26" mini rivercat. I font know why, just because I guess lol. I base lined it at 54mph originally. That was with a 40mm proboat miss geico prop and no adjustments. The setup has not changed since I built it. Fun little boat, just want to see what it's speed limit is. I feel like if I made a thread on it, I'd be more inclined to work on it and get Working towards my goal. Follow along as I mess with this little pocket rocket. I'm welcome to ideas and I may be changing some stuff up. Here's what it has now:

    Motor: discontinued castle 1512 1800kv
esc: mamba monster 2, fins cut off, custom water cooling block
    Servo: proboat
    Drive: .187/.187 flex
Hardware: fightercat inline strudder converted to offset
    Batteries: revolectrix, (2) 3s 5500 70c in series
    Prop: right now, stock proboat

Plans: try x642, x443 cnc, prather 215 props. Possibly an esc swap and motor swap. Plan on a 2050kv 1515 neu or a small lehner.

Here's a pic I've posted before but it compares it to a few other boats to give an idea how cute and small it is hahaha

70+ shouldn't be an issue. ... I did 72 mph the first weekend ever in the water with my 25" Radtek Mystic with an 1100 series Neu on 2S... and I'm certain there is another 4-8 mph there with some more tuning...

Nice run Darin, it surprises me to see something so little go so fast. Kfxguy, have you considered upping the kv to around 2400-2500kv and starting at 4s then working up from there. You'd get 70mph and then some!
I always thought the shocker was a wider boat than the picture shows. It's got nice proportions, looks good sitting there next to the rest. Cool boats!

I could build it to run on less voltage but that comes at a price. With less voltage comes more amps. With more amps comes more potential for failure. I'm just sport running it for my own pleasure. I'm not trying to break a record with it. I feel like running it on 6s with a low(er) kv and small prop would get me there safer. I'm not saying I would chance it up but for now I'm going to dial it all in on 6s. I can always swap motors later when I get the hull lined out. I'm actually doing this with my rivercat now. I already have a brand new, high kv neu, competition wind motor to run on 4s in my rivercat. It should do close to what is doing now on 6s......with a 4s setup. I'm still learning and experimenting. This little thing is just to play with. It turns pretty well and drives pretty decent...I just want to see how hard it'll be to make it go really fast. My goal is really not "just" 75mph....in my mind it's a bit higher.

It gonna be a perfect day to run. I work till 2 but after that I'm gonna try to run this little guy and my rivercat. It's 50 degrees this morning at 6:30 so it should end up at about 70 degrees this afternoon.

So, how'd things go? You know, it's getting tough to follow all this stuff, you need a directory so I can remember which carbon fiber boat is doing what and when:-) Your energy has no limits!

I didnt get to. The weather got bad and the wind started blowing pretty badly and it rained today.
I'm working on a cheetah and daytona right now. I'll be posting build threads tonight on them. I have a high end rivercat with a lehner motor I'm working on too. The cheetah is for a buddy. Daytona in for me in an effort to do 110 or so and the rivercat is for a member here. O and I have three other rivercats to build but that may be a few weeks before getting started. I will be running g the mini and the 32" rivercat in the next few days tho. So stay tuned!

I've been slacking. The boat has been patiently waiting on me but I'm in build mode right now. I had some perfect days to go run this weekend (70 degrees!) And I was too busy building. I think it's going to be warm this weekend too so I'll try to make it out there.

I was able to go run The other weekend. I forgot to grease the flex (I was in a hurry) and I didn't know during the run but the shaft was all rusted. It was making a funny noise and you could here the motor strain at low throttle. Anyway, it went 50.1 woth the same stock pro boat 40mm prop. She runs nice tho. After that run I ended up missing the strut to run true sealed balk bearings in it. I stack 6 together. Next mod is a little bigger motor. The little 1512 is powerful, but not really what I'm looking for. I'm going to run a neu or a castle 1515 in it. I'm looking for a neu because it's a little more compact but if I don't find one, I just ran out to the shop because a light bulb went off in my head. I realized that the front plate of a kintec motor mount will allow the motor to move forward exactly the difference in length between the 1512 and 1515. I will have to cut the rotor shaft a touch to make it fit. Heres a short video.....

(What my whole problem is, I'm trying to work on 4 boats at one time so I keep jumping back and forth between all of them lol)
