New to RC boats.. My Sintra 700

Alright boating peeps!! New here and new to RC boats.. I was given this boat a week or two ago.. It's a Anderson Sintra 700. I have fitted my Ezrun 5.5 6000kv motor and 60A ESC, Just ordered a motor heatsink/fan and a 5200mAh 2s/7.4v 30c-40c LiPO.. I am hopng it will go well.. Just had the boat painted.. It had been kicking around for years, never seen the water but had some damge to the top cover.. So I repaired it with some bits of lexan and glue, then built it up with filler, turned out pretty nice.

Let me know what you guys think..

    Cheers, Dan.

Looks great. Why didn't you run any water cooling?

Thanks, It's not possible to run a water jacket on the motor as it sits too close to the prop shaft.. There is only 2mm gap at the most, so I decided to run with the heatsink/fan.. I had to make a new battery tray as the original one was not big enough to hold a lipo battery, I used a piece of carbon I had kicking around..

I was hoping my lipo battery would be delivered today, but doesn't seem to be the case, hopefully tomorrow, I am really keen to get it in the water. :-)

        Dan.

So.. I just got back from using the boat for the 1st proper run.. It really went quite well indeed.. Faster than I had expected I pulled it in and checked the temp of the motor after a few mins.. I was able to hold my finger on it for over 5 seconds without it being too hot, so I guess that the motor heat sink fan is doing a ok job.. Batt and ESC were not even warm so that's good also.. Now the run time wasn't as long as I had expected.. I guess it was around 6-7 mins before I reached the ESC cutoff.. Is that about right from a 5000mah 2S lipo?

          Cheers, Dan.

Looks very nice, sleek hull, however dont expect it to last more than about 10 seconds with that motor and ESC combo................way too high of a kv.

EDIT, just read that it worked which completely baffles me..........................glad it did, may not for long though

I notice a gear drive now that wasnt mentioned, what is the ratio? Thats the whole key to why it didnt self destruct.

44/56 is the stock gear ratio.. The optional ratio is 20/80... But I am struggling to find any parts for the boat at all, so it looks like I wont be changing the ratio. I have some smaller props so will be trying those next time out..

                Cheers, Dan.

Ok.. Used the blue beast today.. First run was with the 32mm prop.. 2nd vid 35mm prop.. Went really well but after maybe 20 secs it loses power it seems.. Goes slowly for a bit then either cuts out for a sec.. Or off at full chat again.. Motor and ESC were not hot.. Batts were fully charged and it did it with both the lipo and nimh packs.. One thing I noticed was the prop tube felt quite warm near the motor end.. I wonder if it needs re-greasing and was maybe binding up a touch? Aaanyway.. Video's!!

                        Hi Danny,

i have the same boat like you had, the Anderson Sintra 700.
i would like to change to brushless system.
i found the set u used for yours.
would it be possible to get some information about how you get the motor inside the boat? maybe some detailed pictures?
                        what else did you change?

would be very happy if you could help me.

                        ciao
                        Rob

Wow, looks cool to me. I am new to all of this and I am running just an old Aquacraft Hammer with stock motor, but upgraded battery to 8.4 3300MAH and 2.4 GHz. I have actually gotten about 30minutes of run time with this, but that wasn't wide open all the time. Nice boat, my Hammer is blue also!!!!
