Im not sure if im gonna beat yall up but im gonna try and atleast set 1 record if at all possible but we'll just have to wait and see how my 2 boats run.
Go learn and have fun. If it was in my back yard I would be there.
I layed up the first test boat yesterday. I think I figured out a way to have color in a epoxy hull. I have been testing methods with pigments. it has always been patchy and had bleed threw in places. I think I have corrected that.
I also decided to put thicker aluminum doubblers I now use 1/4 and 3/16 for the turn fin mounts.

Best of luck with the color, I tryied it 3 times with the same results.

I have tried several times in fact every time I build something for my self, I work on it a little more. But a light came on during my last lay up and I think I have it. I will show it once it has been 7 days and the part has cured. Buffing is my big let down, at this point. ( I have not liked my results yet. I need to get just the right compounds and I will have it.

Wahoo I have done it. Epoxy gel coat. Guys you can have the new Smokin Joes in any color you want. I have succeeded. On top of that my molds for the Smokin Joes fit and work Pete you will have a boat in 3 weeks.
There is a few blams in my boat but it was the first one and I know what to do now.
I want a 30" Randy. Deposit sent P/P. My friend wants a 34". If this is as great as I think it will be I will want a 34" also. Turn fin supports on both sides. One side for 1/10 scale modern class and one for P sport hydro class. Please let me know the approx time table.

Good news! Can you make the hull yellow and cowl purple? Also, don't cut the holes in the sponsons, I'll start by running a single batt in the middle. Thanks!

Right now the colors are basic red, yellow, green, blue, brown, black and white. To make purple I have to blend 3 parts red with 3 parts transparent blue and I would have to make a batch to last a while. I have a choice below, I was wondering what color of purple was correct.
Also this is still a little new and there is added cost for the extra work. One color for the hull is $30. and the extra color for the two piece cowl is $10. more. In a time it will be blended in to the cost of the hulls. It is still really experimental.
There is several paint schemes all depending how scale you want to be. Smokin Joes, Wild Fire, Close Call, York international, Miss Emcor and Appian Jeronimo are the real scale ones. I had forgot that the earlier Winston/Smokin Joe's '94-'95 had some shuttle differences from the later '96 Joe's, '97 Close Call then later York and Appian Jeronimo.
The guys on International waters have been helping me a little remember. They have some nice pictures check it out.

I really do not mind the two colors, I am working out the bugs for a close color of purple. Each time I try to do this I get better. This boat is about the twentieth one I have done testing and my end results are finally about finished.
Another choice is I can make like I always have and you can paint it like we have done for the last 25 years.
I still have a couple of days waxing and prepping for the epoxy skin before the lay up, so you have some time to decide.
Randy, I sent money via PP for the new Smoken Joes. I have written two PM's since with no response. I thought I would try here in case you are not receiving them.
You have my cell number Gary Rose I will try and PM you on this site also.

So every one else knows I did call you this morning. It was the evening and my time after 7:30PM PST till 9:00AM PST I rarely answer emails.
I just spent the last hour and one half buffing the wax I put on last night. I wish I would have not left and polished when it was soft.

I am sorry if I implied that you wouldn't reply I honestly thought you hadn't received my emails. Sometimes emails or letters get read in a diff. tone. Mine was a soft and understanding tone.
I apologize for any mis- understanding
