In most fast electrics we don't use a switch or fuse in the power system.
Do you intend to race in the 1/10 scale class or is this boat just for fun?
The 1/10 scale racers should be able to give you a good setup for your boat. I'm not sure of the requirements over there in the States.

Here's a basic diagram, showing 3 variations. It depends if your ESC has a built in BEC or not.
