After reading many posts about esc's Iam no closer to knowing whats good out there. I have a 1/8 ml boatworks executone hull with 1527/1y running 8s. I currently have a 160 dynamite esc in it and want a esc that I could mount on the inner rail and maybe be able to switch to 10s at some point.

Well, that limits your choice to HV ESC's. That motor will pull some current, for sure. If it were me, I would go with the Swordfish Pro+II 200A HV, which can go to 12s. I never use the max number they recommend, always de-rate for safety... These things ain't cheap! This ESC has internal data logging so you can work your setup in closer...
A word of warning: Work your props up from small to larger, checking the temps and data logger on each step. If you over prop, you'll take out the ESC and possibly other things like batteries and motor. It is very unforgiving in HV setups! -

As Iam fairly new to the fe coming from many years of nitro and gas. I want to buy a good controller that will last and maybe get me to 10s but thats a ways off. What is optimal for a fe hydro that weights 14.5 with batteries in it? Is my motor to much?Comment

Hi Jay, Geno is running a 1.5Y.
Richard, I also run the Etti 220 Pro with a 1.5Y on 10s with a M cut 450/3 and it has been VERY reliable. Jay is spot on you'll want to drop the kv when switching to 10 cells.
